Just the engine, we swapped a gen 1 v6 bellhousing onto the original 4cyl transmission. Later PA_JERO swapped in a complete v6 lockup gen 1 trans and more recently we swapped in the Dana 44, Box4Rocks and Dana 20 transfercases.

Okay TOASTY, With my 1989 3.0L automatic transmission stock, would it make sense to you then if I just swapped the engine and ECU harness along with some of the accessories?

Okay guys, This is becoming more real for me now. Just working through some of the stats on these engines, this is what I have found so far.
6G72 (3.0L SOHC - 4x4Wire) 89-91 6G72 3.0 SOHC V6 12 MPI 143@5000 168@2500
6G74 (3.5L DOHC - 4x4Wire) 94-96 6G74 3.5 DOHC V6 24 MPI 215@5500 228@3000
With the torque difference, should I expect transmission problems? Perhaps having a tranny shop overhaul it may be a good call.

You know, I've been giving this a lot of thought lately. What would it look like for my power to weight ratio?
Let's run those numbers, shall we?
My current power to weight ratio: 24.4 My target power to weight ratio: 16.2

Your V6 trans will be fine especially if it'a a lockup, put a new front seal in and run it.
