Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
A little background first. My son purchased a 1994 Toyota 4X4 pickup with a 22RE in it. The engine had a lower end knock which we found to be the #3 rod bearing. We had a fresh rebuild sitting in the shop so no problem. Now the problem. While it had a knock we also noticed that it had no power. I mean you could hold your foot to the floor and only get around 1000 rpmÆs. Apparently someone told the PO that it needed new injectors which he had installed. That didnÆt help so he parked it. We werenÆt able to retrieve any codes from the diagnostics because the battery had been un-hooked. We went ahead and installed the fresh rebuild thinking we could figure it out afterwards. We did notice upon removing the engine that the knock sensor was broken at the connector so we replaced it. We have yet been able to get it to run to determine what is wrong. We jumped the fuel pump and have pressure. We jumped the cold start injector just in case there was a problem with it that would keep it from starting. Tried unhooking the TPS, nothing. You can hear the MAF opening and closing while turning engine over. We are at a point where we donÆt know what to try next so any suggestions would be appreciated.
