So a few weeks ago I go out to my '95 4runner started it, and could not get it out of park, then when I go to turn the car off, the key only turns to the ACC position and will not release. After a bit of fooling about, I took apart the center console and got the shifter to release and drove myself home. Once home, I spent more time messing with it, and found that if I disconnect the battery, then turn the key to RUN, then back to OFF it will release the key from the ignition. I have tried three different keys, all in different states of ware, including a spare that is 'like new' - none of which gave me problems in the past.

Looking for suggestions, driving around with two keys, or having to pop the hood every time I park is getting old.

Thanks in advance.

Aaron
