Just bought this one the other day for "spare parts". Turns out it has nothing I need and I think I'm going to bring it back to life again as my new daily driver. The motor has a gnarly knock which is suspected to be a rod. Won't know till it gets torn open but I'm going to start looking for a Caravan or Sonata block to swap out. Unfortunately I just scrapped a Caravan a few months ago for next to nothing with a good motor. Really pissed I didn't hold onto it.

I bought the new ride last week, and went to pick it up Saturday only to find out some punk kid(s) decided to break out a window, cut the rear carpet up, and break the handle for the cargo door. Funny thing is that the whole driver side of the truck was covered in poison ivy, so I'm pretty sure they are itching like hell right now. It's not the full justice I would like to get, but it's kinda funny.

We took it to a good car wash and scrubbed it pretty good. Vacuumed out all the glass. The body seems pretty decent, but the interior is infested with ants. I taped up a trash bag to keep the rain out, and tomorrow will see how many millions it will cost to replace the glass. Brakes are locked up a bit from sitting. The mileage was around 158k which is about 100k less than my 90 auto. If not for the broken window I would have been way happier with my purchase.





A couple things I noticed is that it has an LSD rear, manual locks, manual windows, and headlight washers. It's been a while since I've read up on what's factory option or not, but I didn't think LSD came on anything other than the LS trim?

Things I see now that I know will be needed is a driver side brake lens, driver side tan seat belt receiver, and eventually some rear cargo door parts.

I have tan interior parts when you need. Seems odd that the truck got messed up after you bought it when it looks like it sat a while, sucks.
I'm no expert on the trim packages and option options so can't be of much help with that. Based on what I've seen I would say it is an LS though. Seats and bouncy base, chrome grill and headlight washer maybe LS only? Do you have a gas door opener under the steering wheel too?
I scrapped a caravan block too. Seemed like more trouble then it was worth with it being a bit different FWD van vs RWD montero. I got another spare 3.0 montero engine to rebuild that was the other reason I scrapped it.

If the window ends up being relatively sane in price I will double check what's needed and get back with you.

The truck has sat in that spot for possibly around 2 years without being messed with. Unfortunately it's just bad luck. There was an early 2000 model Benz that was tore up way worse than mine. They broke the passenger side front window, slashed the nice leather back seat, and ripped up a bunch of stuff in the interior. For whatever reason they were clearly planning on stealing the oversized battery under the hood. Once they realized how heavy it was they must have given up.

What aggravates me the most is that the top lip of the door is dented in a couple spots from whatever they used to break the window. I think I can pop them out, but not sure. If not they may interfere with the window being able to fit again.

Window is $225 installed. Not happy about it, but I guess it could be worse. Just means I'll be a couple weeks behind on finding a motor.

I'll get a parts list going for what's needed and post them up.

I have that spare glass if you want to deal with shipping etc. Packaging will be a pain for sure. but if you feel like changing the glass yourself, you could definitely save some $

I appreciate the offer but I just don't have the time to spare right now on the window. I'm doing a large home remodel that will hopefully be wrapped up in a month, and I just want this sealed off from the elements.

I just swapped in a Chrysler engine into my 91. I did have to use a Montero oil pump and pan and windage tray due to the frame and diff. I also plugged the fwd dipstick hole and relocated and drilled for dipstick on the passenger side. If I remember everything else just swapped out. My issue is I can't get the new rings to seat.
