Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey guys, I've been thinking about installing my ac unit. The guy I bought it from never put it back in after rebuilding the engine and he gave me all the parts for it. Has anyone had experience with this? Is it a difficult install. Also, if you have some pictures of your unit so I can see where everything bolts up that would be awesome.
Thanks,
Mackinley

2.6 or 3.0? You should put that in your signature.

That's what I have. Mine leaks behind the firewall. Close to becoming a J-top. After I get moved into the new house, going to give it one more try to find a leak. Have you looked in mitsubishilinks.com and check out the troubleshooting charts there?

Sorry, I meant to reply to FARMER. I have no leaks (except for the big hole in the oil pan that put her down) . I'm about 40 miles from him. He could just come over and buy mine and take it home and study her over real good.

Have you checked the mating surface between the chassis and the outside our inlets? I had a frustrating leak a while back and only found this after tearing the whole dash apart and reinstalling the windshield.

I had mine apart to convert it to an air compressor after I replaced the head. It was leaky and low on r12 anyway. I noticed most of the o-rings were shot. I think it'd be a good idea to replace all the o-rings. There's one at every joint in the system as far as I can tell. You *should* replace the filter/dryer with a new one since it's been exposed to air/moisture. You can still get r12, it just costs a lot. Maybe you can get a deal if you know somebody in refrigeration. I'm told it works a lot better than the replacement, r134a. Of course you'll have to pressure test, evacuate it, and weigh in the refrigerant. I guess you're going to have a shop do that. Just my first thoughts. Good luck. I'd like to see how it works out. One day I'd like to get mine working again.
