... But the auto in the Gen 2.5 monteros is the Asian Warner AW4

as used in Jeep Cherokees.

Auto with the dual cases is absolutely unstoppable!

Thanks, Ian. Yep, knew about that. I'm just trying to make sure I have my ducks in a row. I'm working on picking up a '99 Limited 3.5L now. Haven't seen it yet and the owners are out of town and know NOTHING about this thing.

I want to MAKE SURE this will easily take the NP dual t-case conversion BEFORE I buy. smile Wouldn't think of building another Sport without the t-cases now. Spoiled. smile smile

asa is showing v4a51 i don't recall that year having awd

Thanks! Don't remember. Been so long since we had the '99 .... I'm thinking now that the '99 Limited didn't come with AWD, that that started in '00. Anyway, no AWD is what I want, so .... Just trying to make sure I get the 3.5L. Dynatrac axles are pigs - don't want to try the passes with a 3.0L. smile

So, again, pardon any stupid questions, but this IS the transmission everyone has been putting the dual t-cases on, right? Replace the tail shaft, output, etc, and bolt up the NP231 23-spline?

Edward
