Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have been pricing out long blocks and finally found a 6g75 for my 97' Gen II at a great price with low miles. The problem, which may not be a problem at all, is it is from a 2004 Endeavor. My question is are the Endeavor motors horizontally mounted and if so do they have the proper threaded holes for mounting inline? I have noticed the Montero blocks cost $1,000 or more than the Endeavor. They appear to be the same motor. If I can verify it will mount with little to no problem then I'm pulling the trigger. Thanks.

Need a Spot
Montero has forged crank and cross bolted mains.

Non montero does not. I believe the blocks can be swapped but a oil cooler boss has to be drilled and tapped and a motor mount boss also has to be drilled and tapped. The camshaft in a montero is different than the others too. This is by memory so may not be correct. I think the non mivec 3.8's are all the same other than the montero version. IE cars and endeavor.

I think one of the paj forums or maybe club4g had a great write up explaining the differences and how to build one using the best combination of parts.

Thanks for the info. I have been studying the conversions for about 6 months now. I just can't find any that state a horizontally mounted block can be mounted inline. I'm just trying to make sure the mounting points are the same as the montero block. I read every article possible and have them book marked but nobody states where they sourced their block from. I know somebody here used the short block from a 2006 Diamate but I cannot locate any information on those beyond 2004 when they still had the 6g74. I just want to make sure the Endeavor block will fit before I order. I am aware of the brackets and bosses that will have to be fabricated. Thanks again.
