Need a Spot
Hey Everyone!

I wanted to introduce myself as well as ask a tech question about my newly acquired Raider. I grabbed my '88 about a month ago and, so far, it is a cool little SUV. Recently, however, I hit a snag.

I went to leave work about 2 weeks ago and the turn signals suddenly stopped working. I checked the usual stuff with the bulb, fuse and flasher relay (replacing all of them) but no dice. I checked for bad ground wires, but nothing seemed wrong. I also looked here and saw the write-up on the hazard switch rebuild. I did that - no dice still. The Raider has a trailer harness installed from the previous owner, but nothing seems lose or badly connected. Below is a description of how the process goes for me, any thoughts?

- No signals work whatsoever (no lights flashing outside and no indicator lights working in the cabin)
- When the hazard switch is hit, all the turn signals flash EXCEPT the front driver. The passenger side indicator light in the dash activates for the hazards as well, but the driver's side does nothing
- Reverse, running, brake and headlights all work fine with no issue

This has been driving me crazy and she is do for inspection by the end of the month. Any help is much appreciated!

How does the turn signal switch itself feel. One of mine had no feeling of the detent for when you clicked it one one of the two turn choices.

The switch makes a distinct "click" when you go up or down, so nothing seems out of place there. High beams also click on with no issue.

You are probably going to have to get another hazard switch.

Ok. I was worried maybe the switch was shot, not sure what else it would be. Looks like that is a bit of an oddball part, found this site with one in stock listed specifically for a Dodge Raider:

http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/products/SWITCH--Hazard/4451525/MB330277.html

Then this site for a Montero. From what I've seen, the interiors are basically identical. Any need to get the OEM Chrysler one? Or can I just order this one meant for a Montero?

Thanks for the help!

The Raider is a rebadged Mitsubishi Montero. The hazard switch is the same from either place. Has same part number too

Seems like a steep price? If you find a raider/montero in a salvage yard, they practically give them away. I think the most I have paid so far is $4.50. At least the new one will last a very long time, huh?

Thanks for the input guys! Yes, that does seem like a lot for a little switch. I considered the salvage yard idea, but then the whole longevity thing came to mind + avoiding issues down the road.

I might just bite the bullet, grab the new one from the Mitsu site, and call it a day. I'll post in a few days to let everyone know if it worked.
