They're totally different. The passenger side bolts on. The driver's side "plugs in," so to speak. Once you remove the spindle and have the half shaft free of the hub, the driver's side just comes out with a firm tug. I replaced the seal on the side of the differential before I replaced that shaft a couple of weeks ago, might not be a bad idea on a vehicle that old.
