I finally finished my '91 flatbed project to a point where I was able to wheel it over Memorial Day weekend.

Here is what I started with.
I picked it up with a bad engine, the person who rebuilt the engine broke the ring guides on the install which led to a hole in the #4 piston. I replaced the piston and the valves and put it back together.

This is what it looks like today



Exterior Mods so far:
4crawler 2" BL, 1.5" spacers, 2" cut out of the fenders and BFH clear the 315's
My own bumper, sliders, flatbed, and skid plate
Rear 5.29 and ARB
Front 5.29's and True track
Still to come:
Dual T-cases(have 2nd t-case and adapter just not installed)
Chevy springs
Finish the front bumper
Exo-cage
1/2 doors(have just not cut yet)
Under bed storage for drivelines, CV's, air tanks, and compressor
Possible 2"drivetrain lift
Possible SA' next winter.

Interior so far:
Extensive cleaning and replaced the 60/40 seats with '94 Supra leather seat.
A custom center console with built in cooler and speakers
Stereo upgrade. currently has no radio.

I was surpised at how well it wheeled on the Forydice trail, plenty of clearance, and I had no problem keeping up with my buddies who are all SA'd and running 37's plus. My trip wasn't trouble free though, after my new ARB failed(not sure why yet), I had to get on the gas a little more than I wanted to to climb an uphill boulder section and ended up breaking a tie rod. We were on our way after about an hour of down time, we welded a sleeve over the break and it held fine.

I have spent about $2600 over the last two years building it, and figure I have about $800-1k left before I am done, this doesn't include an SAS.

i really like the way the front fenders look when you cut them like that. i cut mine the same way when i got my first set of 35s, 3 or 4 years ago. the tires fit without cutting, but i needed to remove some rust!!!! good looking truck, would be a shame to see you sas it.

After cutting the fenders I welded on some 1/4" wire to stiffen the fender and to remove the knife edge. I also welded back on the stock inner liner tabs so I can run some liners once I get around to it. My plan is to use some heavy paper and have my buddy shoot the paper with Line-x.

I really don't want to SAS it, it did quite well on its first wheeling trip, better than I had expected. I wasn't the slowest rig/nor had the most trouble(until I lost the ARB) as I had figured I would be since I was running the smallest tires. I plan to install the 64" Chevy springs this month before we hit the trail in July, and plan to have the dual cases in by August. The broken tie rod and a torn CV was the least amount of damage in our group, one of my buddies sheered the flange cap off of his rear ARB, and two others blew their high pressure power steering lines and had to be towed back to the highway, atleast I was able to weld my stuff back together and drive home.

i was worried about people cutting themselves on the lip after i cut mine, so i got some "plastiground" from the AC supply house that i worked at and some black carpet molding from home depot and made some fender flares. looks good from the road, as i like to say.

Getting cut is an easy thing to do, I cut myself pretty good on a buddy's fenders while getting him unstuck in the snow. Mine were still pretty sharp after grinding the edge some. I had considered running a flare but I went the cheaper route. If I get stopped for the width of the tires then I will run a flare, probably a set of the Warn like I have on my '90.
