Need a Spot
I need help with something.......I am new to this site.......I have a chance to buy an 87 4runner, but, it has timing chain problems and the center diff joint is broke and it has over 249K on it...it has the 22re.....the fenders are rusted.......the guy is a fellow student and church friend and he is holding firm on the price......says, he quit running it not long after the chatter of the chain and heard the drive shaft banging bad underneath......its been sitting awhile........I saw a video of a guy who bought an 89 4runner for $500 and he drove it home and he too lives in PA....his odometer had 219k on it......he had timing chain problems and got it fixed and fixed the fender rust, which, the one I want to buy for $1000 has as well........what should I do?.....should I show my friend the video and piss him off or just forget about it? Is he charging to much?.......he says he has others in line to buy it.......he keeps the others away as he says he has it sold to me.....what should I do?.....he also says he put a bunch of parts(brake stuff, and possibly electrical stuff) on it right before he shut it down(two years ago....causing the price to go up.....he says he has no plans of putting it on the road and just wants to sell it......claims he could sell it for a lot more......give me advice and thanks a lot before hand for you advice......Thanks, Brian

Roll Me Over
It sounds like it needs alot of work. I probably wouldn't offer more than $500. You will spend thousands to get it rust free and running, especially if the timing chain damaged the engine.
