Strange white brick thing on Ignition Coil

Getting the Wheeling Fever

Anyone know what the un-labeled white brick thing is that fastens onto the ignition coil?
Has electrical contacts so it's gotta be doin' something.
I think it's a ballast resistor but the FSM electrical manual only calls it "ignition coil"
Anyone know of a replacement option? OEM or improvised, I care not.

Her Name was Eileen, Because she most often was on a jack...
