Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
Last summer I finally found the source of a bad oil leak, the oil pump gasket. It's now leaking in the same exact spot. What could be causing this gasket to keep blowing? I've been looking for the cause of other issues like erratic idling, it will revv itself while at stoplights around 3000 rpms then die back down, and now it's been doing it while shifting between gears. Also it's been difficult to start, it'll just turn over a bunch of times (when that happens I can smell gas pretty bad) and if it finally starts I can hear a ticking noise coming from the engine.
I just pulled the codes for my check engine light and replaced the coolant temperature sensor.
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

ECT sensor should clear hard start. Idle issues are probably the idle air valve. Search for prior discussions.
The oil leak could be gasket or crank seal in the oil pump.

I'm 99% sure the oil leak is the oil pump gasket, which I what I replaced last summer and it solved the problem and now it's having the same exact leak. My question is what would be causing this to blow yet again? Built up pressure in the engine?

why am I having such a hard time finding the pcv valve? I found the connector hose but cant trace it back to the valve. the factory manual does't even show the valve itself and its location just the hose

On top of the d side valve cover, under the intake plenum.

Do you have to remove the plenum to change the pcv valve?

Someone on here once claimed to have re-PCV'ed without r and r the plenum. Seemed simpler to me to de-plenum.

Any idea of why I can't get it to start recently? it has a strong turnover just no catch. And the smell of gas is really bad so I'm sure it's flooding itself
