Need a Spot
Hi guys!! New to the forum and Montero Club.

I have a 1989 Raider with the 3.0L V6. I have a few questions.

I have already swapped the rear coils for GenII for some lift and cranked the torsion bars. I want to remove the rear sway bar and add some longer travel shocks for the rear. I found a thread on a different site that said there was a lot of info about KYB shocks over hear, but I haven't had any luck finding them. Any help would be great. Other manufactures are ok too, but I'm on a budget.

I also want to swap the rear axle for a GenII. I have found a 1992 SR axel at a local salvage yard will it work?

I plan to put an Aussie locker up front. Any feed back from those who have done this. All the threads I have found are pretty old.....

Any ideas for a winch capable front bumper. It looks like ARB was the only choice and they quit making them. I have seen that some have ordered bumpers for other vehicles and modified to fit. Is that my only option???

I will try to add pics if I can figure it out.
Thanks in advance for any help.

92 SR. Did that have an air locker rear axle? If it doesn't have a locker, I wouldn't waste my time.

The 92 has a locker, but I have been told that the gear ratios in the 92 are different. I need a 95-96 for matching gear ratios.

Gen I Montero / Raider will most likely have 4.625 gears. The early Gen II also shares this ratio, but you don't get the air locker, only LSD. The middle year Gen IIs had 4.636 gears, not enough difference to be a problem, swap away!

Also, you can use a Warn winch mount blank, create your own bumper or none. Most of 'the Guys' have made their own for the last decade I've been here.

The early SR info sure is spotty. What different gears did they have?

Dan will let you know how cool they are.

Had I the scratch and drive and need, I probably should have purchased the 5.86 4-cyl only gears those many years ago.
