if enough wheelers participate perhaps we could camp overnight ... plenty of camp sites within 2 miles from trail head
a buddy of mine will be coming with a mostly stock Montero rig and wants to hit mostly moderate trails, and possibly do some fishing
i'll be testing my recent rear leaf spring over axle (SOA) on moderate trails (4,5,6,8) ... but in the right weather conditions I might be persuaded to give trail 9 (Slick Rock) a try
had an '88 Montero, then an '04 Rubicon ... sold 'em tho

see Jason, i told you you'd enjoy Tellico ... esp the moderate trails ... and there're nice places to park and view the carnage taking place on Trail 9 or Trail 2
ducktrooper, sure hope you make it ... are you still in Memphis?
for anyone wishing to camp, would it be best to do that Friday night or Saturday night? i might go ahead and camp both nights for the fun of it ... anyone else interested?
had an '88 Montero, then an '04 Rubicon ... sold 'em tho

since i just took a weekend trip.. i would most likely come up saturday morning real early and leave after the fun is over. i have to space out the overnighters. you remember that culvert on 8? josh in the silver ranger from amicalola (now lifted and with bigger meats) flattened it. we watched a few built jeeps give peckerwood a try.. only to give up and winch over it. after that trip.. i can say that body damage is cool and know what i'm talking about. [ June 04, 2003, 02:02 PM: Message edited by: jasonb_exp ]

jason, cool ... we will most likely depart from the trailhead (pay station) at 9:00 AM Saturday morning ... the trailhead that is near the beginning of trail 6 ... but we will probably take the dirt road (trail 1) and hit trail 5 first, which leads to trail 4 and then to 8, and back using trail 4 to the dirt road (trail 1) ... we will want to have lunch on the trail ducktrooper, 2 nights of camping sounds great, i usually use camp #3, no fees required to camp, it's near a stream, has a port-a-potty, and firewood can usually be found. I've never driven from Knoxville to Tellico, but I think its about 2 1/2 hours drive thru Tellico Plains. After the long winding road along the creek/river, you pass a small settlement of houses, single-wide trailers, and camp stores, then the first camp site you come to on the right is Camp #3. I'll be going from Chattanooga to Cleveland and across to Murphy (not thru Knoxville), but I can plan to arrive by early afternoon and set up camp, then wheel Friday afternoon with you and anyone else who arrives in time! BBRocky, glad to have you along, let us know when your schedule firms up ... it's the Saturday before 4th of July weekend, so hopefully family vacation plans won't interfere with wheeling plans ... it most likely won't be too, too crowded that weekend, and camp #3 has room for dozens of rigs even if it is crowded general info: $5 per day to ride trails, and there's more general info and maps at these links: http://cnc.4x4.org/images/tellico_map.gifhttp://www.tellico4x4.com/murphy/map.htmhttp://www.tellico4x4.com/murphy/index.htm [ May 12, 2003, 04:17 PM: Message edited by: Selimyar ]
