I will be taking of my sway bar and some other stuff, so we wont be going at the crack of dawn.
I was thinking about taking to doors off too.

Seriously - what time is good to get on site? I'll be coming from Boston down Rt 2, which takes about 2 1/2 hours.

Larry?! Damn, I was hoping it was "Brenda", or "Jenna", or Tiffany". Oh well, "Larry" will have to do. Shoot for 9:00am, ok? Rt 2 on Saturday will be dead, so you shouldn't have to worry about traffic. If you are heading out from South of Boston, you may be better off hopping on the Pike, and then taking I91 north to Rt2.
-------------
To ALL:
Any questions about how to get there, or is everyone pretty much set on that? I'll be on line tonight and tomorrow Morning, but I'm leaving late morning and I will be unreachable. After that, Doug can help anyone out who is not sure about anything specific. Florida is a small town, with few roads, and anyone you ask can direct you to the Savoy Mountain Campground if you get lost.
The number at the Campground is (413)664-9567 and we're on site #8. I'll be picking up #7 also, tomorrow probably.
Doug, whats on the menu?

Guy,
Classes for me are over roughly at 5 or so. So I will be going down from there. The turnpike is right by my school, and then I will just drive it like I normally do.
Last time in the morning it took Matt and myself about 3 hours give or take some. Although I wont be going that fast alone. I have to get ahold of patrick as well.
Figure on meeting me at 9:30 at the groccery store with the funky name, and the advanced auto. What was it called again???
We can go shoping then, or after the trail on saturday. Atleast I will pick up some morning food.
I dont plan to cook friday night, I HATE cooking in the dark. You know that, dont want me all pissy. [ September 12, 2002, 06:45 PM: Message edited by: DougH ]

Doug: You remember where the campground is, don't you? Why don't you just go strait there. I'll have coffee, a nice fire going, some food, and a few *pops* to share. I'll steal Lloyds idea, and put light sticks on the way. Seriously. I'll tie them to the sign posts and anywhere else that I think it would help. (once you get up past the lookout on the cliff, that is.)
Have your CB on Channel 20, and give me a shout on your way up the Mountain.
We can do the shopping in the AM, and I think all those stores close early anyways. I'll do all the shopping for breakfast in the afternoon, ok.
Is Patrick definitely coming?
Charlie: When are you coming up, Friday night? Or Saturday? If you can make it up tomorrow afternoon, that would be great.
Greg: How about you? Friday night, or Saturday?
------ Reprint--- Directions from New York State- catch Rt 2 East near Troy, and follow all the way through North Adams Mass into Florida Mass. You'll hit Florida once you climb up the Mountain out of North Adams and pass the Western-Facing Overlook where you will see a small parking area and a motel/cabins.
You'll still be on Rt 2 at this point. You'll pass the Cub Scout Troup Sign welcoming you to Florida on the Left. This is the sign showing a Snowman and Palm Trees. A little way past this sign, there will be a right hand turn onto Shaft Road. Follow the signs to Savoy Mountain State Forest. (brown with white lettering)
Follow this road and the signs for aproximately 2 miles, and the campground is on the right before the road turns into dirt. Of course, if you're on a dirt road, you've gone too far. doh. You really can't miss it.
From Vt, Rt 8/100 South into North Adams and left onto Rt 2 East. Or I91 south to Rt 2 West. Follow Rt 2 West into Florida and then to Shaft Road and follow signs.
Boston area; I90 West to I91 North to Rt 2 West, and same as above. ------------- [ September 12, 2002, 07:51 PM: Message edited by: mrGUY ]

I won't be able to get out of here until afternoon. Like 4 or so. It's 7 hours give or take so that puts me in Florida before Midnight. Maybe I can get out sooner & maybe Fri traffic won't be bad. The route I'll be taking from your directions, is there alot of toll roads? Never drove up north before. I'll have my CB on 20. Don't have a cell. Guess I'll just chip in for brekky.
Hey Shad, yeah, 2 1/2 might be a bit young. This will be Ethan's 3rd trip, all this year. If he asks for his mommy or says he's scared cause the water is coming in the truck (Pine Barrens), I give him a cookie & he quiets down. :-)

Hahahah ya the cookie thing. I know what you mean I was a making mine happy when I was towing dogwaters 69 patrol from SW New York because it threw a rod on the way to Vermont. A very long story... Food always seems to quiet the little guy down though. I think lately though he is on the Mc Donalds nugget kick. That's all he wants lately he tells me no cookie daddy I want chicken nuggets... <--- dunno whatever they make them out of he loves them... [ September 12, 2002, 11:29 PM: Message edited by: SHAD ]

I believe that's it for tolls. You'll have to go through a few different tolls on those two highways, but thats it.
Check on an atlas for the Albany/Troy NY area. The exact directions through this area are these: Interstate 87 North to Exit 23. This puts you on Interstate 787 North towards Albany and Troy. 8 exits up is the Watervliet, NY Exit. Take that exit and loop around to Route 2 East. According to Doug, this was a bit confusing, but Route 2 is very near that exit, and there must be signs. After getting on Route 2 East, stay on it all the way into Florida.
Pick up a Western Massachusetts map if you can, and take a look at Florida. You'll see Rt 2 take a sharp, very sharp turn on the map and this is heading up the mountain. After seeing the town that you just passed through,(North Adams), from a very high vantage point, you are about half a mile from the right hand turn towards the campground- Shaft Road.
I'll place some glow sticks that you can follow.
BTW- Breakfast: I have enough BlueBerry Pancake batter made up to feed a dozen people. Hope everyone likes blueberry pancakes! I have a large heavy pan for these and if anyone wants to bring eggs, and anything else, please do. I'll also take care of the coffee, OJ, and milk.
Oh, Charlie, if you want to grab some good disposable plates, and silverware that would be great.
And just give a yell on the CB when you get up that mountain. I'll be listening.

Oh Man, Nuggets!!! And they have to have the toy that comes with them. Play with it for a few minutes & then it's ready for the toybox. Unless it's the McD's Spy Camera. They get that thing out of the box every few weeks.
Thanks for the directions Guy. Seems I've seen enough versions to get me in the vicinity.
I'll bring the plates, 'ware & a dozen eggs.
Who's bringin' the Cheerwine?!?!
