Charlie, hows it looking? I promise it won't be that cold! Ok, I can't promise, but I can hope.

Body Damage is Cool
O.k., here's why I haven't been posting...my hard drive died in my home computer around 4 Sep. I've been trying to get H.P. to cover it under warranty but have struck out there. I see that Best Buy has Seagates on sale so I will buy a 60GB & install it. Should be on-line at home by Wed.

Now, I could go on-line at work but with the birth of my daughter 3 Sep I haven't been at work since 30 Aug. I am at work today & then will take the rest of the week off.

Looks good for me making it to the Old Florida Rd trip 13-15 Sep. I will keep you informed. Once I leave work today I may not be able to post until Wed evening.

Hey that's pretty close to me - mind if I tag along, possibly? I'd probably make it a day trip or two.

ok!!!

Charlie, I'll be waiting to hear from you.

Dogwater, you are most definitely invited! Do you know exactly where and when? If not:

The Old florida Road trail is off of Shaft Road in Florida Ma.

---
Directions from New York State- catch Rt 2 East near Troy, and follow all the way through North Adams Mass into Florida Mass. You'll hit Florida once you climb up the Mountain out of North Adams and pass the Western-Facing Overlook where you will see a small parking area and a motel/cabins.

You'll still be on Rt 2 at this point. You'll pass the Cub Scout Troup Sign welcoming you to Florida on the Left. This is the sign showing a Snowman and Palm Trees. A little way past this sign, there will be a right hand turn onto Shaft Road. Follow the signs to Savoy Mountain State Forest. (brown with white lettering)

Follow this road and the signs for aproximately 2 miles, and the campground is on the right before the road turns into dirt. Of course, if you're on a dirt road, you've gone too far. doh. You really can't miss it.

From Vt, Rt 8/100 South into North Adams and left onto Rt 2 East. Or I91 south to Rt 2 West. Follow Rt 2 West into Florida and then to Shaft Road and follow signs.

Boston area; I90 West to I91 North to Rt 2 West, and same as above.
-------------

I have one campsite reserved, and the number is 8. We can have four adults and four tents total per site. If we need more room, there are more available, and I think the one right next to it is, so how many do we have so far?

I'll be there on Friday afternoon, and any planning on coming up Friday should try and get there before dark, just because it'll be easier for you to find the place.

Any planning on arriving on Saturday Morning, must let us know about when you'll be up, so we can plan on meeting you either at the campground, or somewhere else.

Plan to bring:
-Tow Straps!
(A winch would be the bawls!)
-fire extinguisher
-Food
-Water
Fill up in town (North Adams/ or other, because there is no gas in Florida) You won't need extra gas cans.
-A folding Chair- and keep it away from Doug! (he has a habit of soaking other people's chairs with water- don't ask how he does this, but he'll manage )

-Tarp! Just in case. (also keep away from Doug! This is what he usally uses to soak the chair with)
-Camera
-Trash Bag -very important that we leave Nothing Behind on Florida Road. This trail has been brought back from the brink of the closurists by local clubs, and we must help out in keeping it that way.

We will probably do Old Florida on Saturday, and if there is enough time even Ice Cream Trail. But probably the Ice Cream Trail on Sunday.

Ok, now I think I've got the program figured out.

My only issue is will I get there Fri night and camp or Sat AM. I ought to have this sorted by tomorrow AM.

You guys recommend the 4-cyl with small tires and the LSD, right? The carb is not set up right but it does seem to run. If I use that one I will have to drive the V6 back from NYC to Boston on Fri and then take the 4cyl from Boston to Old Florida Rd on Sat AM early. (no problem, I like to drive..as long as I'm driving Monteros..)

Thanks mrGuy - looking forward to meeing some of the people from the board face-to-face.

Also I do not have a tow strap although I do have a metal-cable manual winch (sometimes called a "comealong") Is that useful?

2 dr Monteros;
1988 2.6 LSD 5 sp - RIP, hit in rear
1989 3.0 5sp now belongs to Jim_B!

4 dr (1); 1991, LS. m/t sold
4 dr (2); 1991, LS, A/T. New engine. Oops. Needs another engine.

Oh MAN! Doug, you da KING!! That is great. Do you have all the pots and stuff that it shows in that photo? I have the good coffee pot that I'll be bringing, so forget that if you don't already have it.

East Coaster, normally I would say bring the V6, but if I remember correctly it has one size larger tires which won't help out as much as your LSD in the 4 banger.

And forget the come-a-long. We'll have no need of it. Straps are all we really need, and Doug is right- we have enough, I guess. I just like having more than enough.
