Roll Me Over
Greg, post some detail on where and when. I'll come up Sunday. I may even camp up in the Killington area Saturday night, and head down there on Sunday morning to meet you.

Ya I drove down to paragon in Pa to wheel. It's a 6 1/2 hour drive for me. Comon you aren't being dedicated enough and you call yourself a offroader... Just Kidding I am thinking Dog it might be worth it to do a Canada offroad trip too.

Here's putney mountain in the spring kinda like the icecream trail is then too:

Really, I drive 2 hours just to wheel up north. Cojo lives at least that far away. I know there's not always enough time to do everything but don't let a little drive stop you!

Anyway, Guy, I'll post details when I can. I won't get to do scouting until Fri. School is out so I might bring my daughter friday and scout all day. I need to take Shad to PA tomorrow to get his Pathy and today I'm a headless chicken. I'll email you my phone # in case you are up on sat.
Shad - I didn't get as far as that spot but the ones before that look almost as deep now.

Guy, I finally sold the Raider to an ex-neighbor of mine. He's going to use it mostly for his daily driver and deer hunting. I didn't get near what I wanted for it, but since I know him I gave in. I'm waiting for those damn UPS people to deliver my lift kit now! Once that's installed I'll be good to go. May even try to sneek a set of sliders past the wife. These Vermont boys are talkin' about wheeling around Bennington. Heck, that's practically in my backyard! Hope to get some wheeling in before the snow gets too deep. I'll keep in touch. I think I can keep up with a Kia.

Well, she won't be going on all the runs - just some of the easier ones. Yeah, let us know when you're ready to roll!

I was beginning to wonder when & how Shad was going to pick up his Pathfinder. If the shop didn't give his truck a bath, you'll get to see the extensive coating of Paragon goo.

Good luck on the trip. Too bad you can't get in any wheeling this time - or can you?

So you guys are heading out Sunday? What type of trails (rocks/mud/hillclimbs!) How far from New London, CT would you say? 2/3 hours? Are the trails in the mountains? Will it be worth the drive?

Cojo - I doubt it! I guess the mud would hide any evidence of further wheeling...

Tahoe - I'm looking at two areas, both in the Green Mountains. They should have mud, rocks, hillclimbs, yes. I will post topos when I get back on Friday but I aim to make it worth it. I'd hoped to get scouting done sooner but I was too busy. Here are the two areas i'm scouting Friday:

Stamford Area - There is a network here that crisscrosses the ridges and streams. Two areas I'll look at here are NW of the red X (Stamford Meadows) and those loops below the red X coming off of Rt 8/100. They're all interconnected.

Glastonbury area - This area has a stretch to the northeast that should be pretty wet. To the west it is pretty steep, crosses water and the pass that should offer interesting features. It crosses the Long Trail / Appalachian Trail which usually means it'll be interesting.

Here's a zoom out of the area - you can see that Stamford is just above Florida, so it should be similar topography. Glastonbury is north of the red X.

Anyway, I'm pretty darn confident I can find some good runs in one or the other of these areas. I'd rather have been able to give more notice but I'd just like to get as many good runs in as possible before the snow gets deep.

"Before the snow gets deep" - that is definitely a concern for any of you guys not familiar with NE trails. It may look like a nice time, but the sound of a hidden rock ripping through the gas tank can ruin the best of times~ (just a little personal experience there )

Anyway, its U-joint time again! *yea* Hopefully I'll be able to find them before the weekend. Its a hell of a thing the way I go through u-joints! Shouldn't be a problem to get done before Sunday, though.

Jack~ Glad to hear that you're done with that thing! Now get cracking on the Jeep so you can tackle Old Florida Road this Spring, ok?

Justin~ damn right its worth it! Come on up!
Its beautiful up there, and there will be plenty of ups and downs, just what you're looking for
