Yep... Been there - Done that

Fortunately, other than acquiring a few new dents, the only thing that guy hurt was his pride.
--- Hopefully, if we see anything like this in October, the individual(s) will be equally as lucky.

Should I reserve the site for just the 9th and the 10th?

Zuwharrie

I might be able to come down, just have to wait and see.

Isn't this the gathering where they regularly get over 150 zukis running around?

when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.

Well, at least they arent at Arrowhead.... they seem to make it a really big thing. They have registration, and fees, and all that. There were a few Zukes there last time, one i remember was very built.

To anyone looking to reserve a site, i wouldnt advise campsite 38. there is no place to set up a tent, give the side of a 10% grade hill, you will find yourself at the bottom of your tent in the morning. it would be fine however if you were sleeping in your truck...

I believe this is one of their larger gathering here on the east coast, they expect more than 100 rigs. I think most of them are staying at a group site down by the lake. We are going to have to get started on the trails earlier than the normal 10ish, 11ish time or we will be stuck behind them.
No offense meant toward the Zuks

Well, I guess that depends on what days you think you can make ità

Personally, I reserved #37 for Friday & Saturday. û That makes my check-out date Sunday.

If you book yours for the 9th & 10th, that would make your arrival date Saturday, and your check-out date Monday.

Hey, itÆs camping, not the Marriot!

OK, in all seriousness:

Typically, the folks that reserve #38 usually DO sleep in their rigà however; I once saw someone put their tent on the tarmac. --- Admittedly, itÆs probably best-suited for a pop-up or pull-behind camper, butà

Last time we were there, Janet (the Forestry Service Site Host) informed me of the importance of spreading our group around, and said that we really needed to stop parking the majority of our vehicles at (or so close to) site #37. --- Even if it were only used for over-flow parking, we should still get #38à And if setting-up a tent becomes a problem, then whoever reserves it is more than welcome to set-up at #37 (where itÆs level, and thereÆs plenty of room).

Usually #35 is used in much the same wayà In addition to providing a buffer between our group and the surrounding campsites, its long driveway also serves a place to park vehicles and trailers.

Simply put: Our group has earned itself an exceptional reputation at Arrowhead, mainly because we consult with Janet, and then abide by her wishes. û And she, in turn, looks out for us. --- Because we go to such great lengths to insure that we donÆt disturb our fellow campers, and we reserve the campsites that surround our main congregational site, our efforts have been noticed and appreciated, and we have become very well-thought-of. --- Reserving a campsite that may-or-may-not be all that user friendly is a rather small price to pay to insure that we continue to be so warmly welcomed.

To put it another way: If you reserve #38, and you find the accommodations unacceptable... I'll do my absolute best to make it up to you.

Smiley, I (we) have no problem reserving 38, but I have one small issue. I am half way aropund the world right this minute. So, how much for the scheduled dates.. adn how can I pay.. I would check out the site..but, I dont really have much time..and you can email the info to me if you wish, or Pm(JoeB) has my email...

Other than that, I WILL have the Troop there.

Hey Smiley,

It looks like I can make the October gathering. I made it to the summit of Mount Rainier last Monday morning so it looks like my wife won't be selling her deceased husband's Rodeo Sport.

Pete.
