Smiley, how many sites vs. people we have now (too lasy to do the math myself).

Yeah... me too!

Seriously though - Until we hear-back from Doug, I'm not really even sure what's what. --- Unless something changes, it's looking like we'll have somewhere between 14 and 20 people camping (depending), so I guess 4 or 5 campsites ought to do it. [* shrug *]

Cheers!

PS:

Wooooooooooooo-Hooooooooooooooo! - I FIXED MY JUNK!!!!!

After swapping-out the Steering Column, and trying/checking who-knows-how-many other things, would you believe that it was the crappy wheel balancing from Sears that was causing all of the remaining handling and steering problems?

I took it to a local dealership yesterday and had a Hunter Road-Force Balance performed (where everyone was absolutely awesomeà and an added bonus: in addition to being extremely friendly and helpful, the service desk rep was mighty-darned easy on the eyes )

By comparison to the handling before, it drives like a freakinÆ dream now! --- Although, I still have to go to Sears today, to get them to replace the tire that they damaged when they originally mounted them (it has a big gouge in the bead area from their machine û ItÆs a wonder it has been holding air at all!)à And NO, it wasnÆt the folks at the dealership yesterday that did it, because I was right there watching (I even have photos!) û and no one else has ever even touched them.

Despite being past acceptable parameters, the tire was able to be balanced to zero (however, continued vibration is to be expected, and replacement is VERY strongly recommended).

Another thingà Unbeknownst to me, one of my tires (a different one) had over 12 ounces of weight, combined/inside & out, all concentrated in one areaà However, after using the Hunter machine, James (also amazingly awesome, but nowhere near as eye-catching ) spun the tire around on the rim and got the figure down to 4 ounces total.

Anyway û While I was talking with Joe last night, he seemed to think that Sears might give me a hard time, because in addition to replacing the tire, I intend to ask that they reimburse me for the Road-Force Balancingà It seems only fair to me, since they screwed it up so badly that I felt it was necessary to go somewhere elseà But Joe believes (perhaps rightly so) that Sears will claim that I should have brought it back to them to fix. --- IÆm looking at it quite a bit differently thoughà I mean, letÆs put it this way: If you went to a barber, and they absolutely butchered your hair, would you go back to that same person to have it re-cut, and risk having them do an even worse job of it the second time around?

WeÆll just have to wait and see how all of this pans-out.

As you can see, this is a very long story - plus there is at least one chapter still remaining to unfoldà

After all of the dust settles, IÆll get around to doing an actual write-upààààà eventually.

Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.

I'll be a for sure for Sunday if I can get my Montero back together in time for wheeling, so its not 100%, but just incase, are there going to be a good amount of people there on Sunday or is the majority leaving that morning ? ?

I might be able to sqeeze saturday, but work might have to take priority on that day. We'll see whats up as time gets closer. If I can make it, put me and my cousin (Toya Taco on 37's) for sunday.

later,
Angelo

This is us thinking out loud:

How does bringing lunch with us when we hit the trails each morning sound? We do it every time we go wheelin'.
It takes and or wastes to much time to go back to camp to get food, then it takes 3 hours to round everybody up to hit them again.
This was a major problem last Uwharrie,,,,we go out at 10:30
wheel for an hour or two and everyone wanted to go back and get food,to much time was wasted.
We always have food, drinks with us,always....so what do you all think????

We could be on the trails fairly early and stay out all day, this place is way to big to be driving in and out of camp.

SO plan on eating lunch on the trail, and bring TP also

O'k rant off

ARe we there yet????????

WHen are folk's coming up?I'm trying to get some trails ideas going.Friday afternoon/evening run?
Saturday on the trails about 9:30?We will wheel/drive about 20 miles. There will be lot's of driving but it'll be fun.
We'll go up and over the mountain,do the Blue trail, drive down the Black trail,go down the sawmill road up to Welder. We'll run welder as long as there aren't any broken Heeps on it again, run down the clay roads and be back at camp about 7pm.
We can eat rest and hit the trails for some riding under the stars, our whatever.....Let me know if that will be too long of a day for anyone...

Doug, that trailriding plan sounds great

I would love to pack a lunch and ride all day. If we establish it early ehough, and know who all is coming and when they are arriving, I think it's doable.

I plan on leaving first thing on Friday. I haven't checked the distance on the trip yet, but we should be there in time for a evening drive . My wife is still keeping that weeked open, so unless something comes up between now and then, she should be along. This will be her first real exposure to good wheeling, so I'm currious to see her reaction. I'll just have to be sure and not break anything I can't fix, or I'll never hear the end of it

I suppose me 'n my group will look at heading up that way in the morning sometime. So, we'll prolly get up there sometime shortly after noon. MY buddy in the dakota will be coming from Charlotte so we'll have to wait on him to get here (Hickory) then we'll head up that way. I guess we'll just chill till everyone else arrives or is everyone else planning on already being there if need be we can leave earlier, but I am assuming that'll be pretty good.

IÆve already prepared Miss Kathy for the possibility that I will probably head down to Rancho de Bansil on Thursday (assuming of course that itÆs cool with everyone on that end). --- If so, then I guess IÆll be assisting Doug with the welcoming committee duties on Friday.

It sounds to me like something we should have already been doing!

As a matter of fact, if Lisa will whip us up a giant double-batch of VX Caviar, IÆll gladly cover the cost of the ingredientsà Heck, IÆll even bring enough clothes pins for everyone!

In other News:

Guess who didnÆt get arrested at Sears yesterday -- and not only thatà but will be receiving a brand new replacement MT/R, and even got reimbursed for the tire balancing!

Just as Joe predicted, they really balked at the idea of giving me the money for the tire balancing û but I stood my ground û and as luck would have it, the automotive department manager had a very well-groomed head of hair, so my barber analogy really hit-home and took the wind right out of his objections. --- He settled-up with me shortly thereafter. --- The tire, however, had to be ordered from the regional warehouseà but I should have it by the end of the week.

(Kathy thinks that I missed my callingà either as a Trial Attorney or maybe a Hostage Negotiator! )
