Jessica - No worries about revealing Dave's identity... I was only leaving his name out as a sort of inside joke.

As for there being a Rock vs. No Rock - I was just going by what I remember him posting, way-back-when...
(and I swear I'm not trying to be a smart - here...)

Yo.

I had a great time in Uwharrie. Big thanks to Smiley for pulling this one together. I finally saw the welcome sign at the Elderado Outpost on Sunday. It was cool meeting lots of folks.

Of course, the most interesting thing happened after everyone left (with the exception of Mike(Rodeoguy), Rubo, Cory (96isuzoom), and Dan. I rolled the AMigo.

To put it more accurately, I put the amigo on it's side. I was up on Falls Dam and got high centered on a big rock. Mike was using the snatch strap to pull me off when I went up on two wheels and then over on the side ( I had the wheels turned the wrong way). Cory's got video, but I really wasn't thinking about taking pictures after I climbed out of the wreckage. SO, sorry, no pictures. I may takes some digitals tomorrow of the damage.

The left rear panel is pushed in, there's a couple creases in the door and the roof, my drivers's side window won't roll up right and the door won't seal right either, and the driver's side mirror is gone. It was weird seeing my Amigo on it's side bleeding out precious fluids (diff, tranny, coolant, transfer case). A bunch of guys on quads showed up but we couldn't push the truck over. Then a jeep showed up with no straps or recovery gear. However, I had a strap and an extra length of tow rob. So, we strapped around the Independent 4X rocker bar and then ran the strap around a tree and had the jeep pulling while we pushed the truck back over onto the wheels. No windows or bones where broken, but now I gotta figure out how to fix my truck.

later,
Dave

Ps. I'm surprised RUBO hadn't already posted word of this.

It turns out that I was wrong about him being outside of the vehicle when it rolled.

Too bad the photo links have expired since then û I donÆt know why (maybe a morbid curiosity), but IÆd kinda like to have seen them again.

Anyway, suffice it to say that rollovers do occur in Uwharrie from time-to-time - and that itÆs happened at least once to an Isuzu owner.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well, it turns out the Gasoline Gods aren't the ones who are raining on my Uwharrie parade, the Catalytic Coverter gods are. As some may have seen from my post in the Isuzu Talk forum, I failed state inspection today due to a bad cat. (I was always a dog person myself...) Not sure how the finances are going to shape up just yet but I'm hoping to find a less expensive way out of this than shelling out the 1200 bucks for a new cat. I'm not signing up for the 'count me out' list just yet, but I may be treading VERY lightly for fear of expensive breakage. Rubo may not be the best choice as my co-pilot this time around.

I think the point Jess was trying to make and in echo of what Jordan said... rollovers aren't likely at Uwharrie! Rock or no rock, Dave's rollover happened on flat ground and was pretty much a result of being yanked off the rock he was high centered on. He'll be the first one to tell ya all about it, even using his own name... thats Dave.

I've seen many rolls happen at Uwharrie, but none a result of technical wheeling. All the roles I've witnessed are accidental and a result of circumstance or not-so-mature behavior. Like Jessica said, our sport is dangerous, and under the right circumstances, a roll over could happen in the middle of a flat field (go talk to Camo over on PBB). But if we all pratice caution and trail ediquette as the Isuzu group generally does, there should be nothing to worry about and likelyhood of that kind of damage is very small.

Enough bad, mean talk about the the HEEP .....afterall it's a Jeep thing right

Anyways,
WillV go to Summit Racing and buy an aftermarket
Cat and have a muffler shop install, maybe even the same shop
that'll do your inspection, since all it failed for was the cat that's all most shop's will look at.Should be under $50
to install the new cat.

ANd as for rolling over, anywhere you go you can do something just alittle too much and then oops

Say your cruisin' the mall looking for chicks and you decide to do a nice smokey donut to try and impress the ladies ...next thing you know that donut turns into an oops and the truck is on it's side........just cause a camaro just did the same thing doesn't mean a truck was made to do it.

RTI ramps can turn into rollovers also, just ask the guys
that try to see how far up them they can drive, with the rear tire off the ground.......big thing now seems to be how far (Distance wise) they can drive OFF the ramp
anyways just another example of taking a little bit more of the pie.
If people would stop as soon as the tire leaves the ground, and use the ramps for testing/evaluation tools then folks wouldn't roll on them........but......

Like everything in life people get bored and/or stupid and try to spice things up,this is when OOPS will happen.

Enough already,my two fingers are sore from typing.....

Come to Uwharrie for fun and don't be conscerned about rolling, unless you wanna do something stupid-----in that case most of us will be there to warn you and take pictures

Let's wheel

Jordan,I'm not bustin' your chops but this made me laugh:

What you see here, with the flipped heep and all, is a VERY uncommon occurence in uwharrie. Ive never seen anybody flip there. Heck, the only real carnage ive seen there is some body damage and busted lights (on the same tree on rocky mount, chris, hows about we take that tree out this time ....just kidding) and a failed CV.

As for food, thats already been tossed around a little bit. What did we come up with? Chili by Andre? Gumbo by Bill? The new tradition of Saturday night in-town?
Im down for whatever.

Now, as for entertainment.....thats a whole different animal. Pete, can you rig us up something cool like last time? Smokey and the Bandit would be cool. Or maybe the new Dukes of Hazzard will be out by then.....(can anybody say Daisy Duke version 2.0......newer and VERY improved! )
