Zach,

DonÆt worry û there are always lots of photos!

But let me ask you somethingà
Purely hypothetically speaking û wouldnÆt having some pre-existing body damage make you all-the-more willing to go hit a few trails? --- I mean, thatÆs about 25% of the vehicle that you wouldnÆt even have to worry about, since itÆs already dinked û am I right?

Body Damage is Cool
Bad news

My death wobble has been diagnosed as play in the lower a-arm bushing. And my a-arms do not come off. Trust me, I used a 20 ton press on that mounting bolt and it started to bend the mount before I gave up. So it looks like my only option is to cut everything off and get a new a-arm and bolts and bushings.

That, and I need a new rear driveshaft, new wheel bearings, 2 new tie rod ends, a new steering shaft joint, new rear brake pads/rotors, rear axle seal is leaky, phhh what else am I forgetting...yep I'm 15k overdue for timing belt/water pump...

Basically, the rodeo isn't up for the trip to Uwharrie. As it is, rodeo ain't up for driving me to work right now.

Yeah, now someone else is getting the same crap I got. Mike, I hear ya. Been there done that. You will tear the crap out of the bushing getting it out even if you cut the a-arm off.

It took a press to get that bolt out of the bushing, and even then it came attached with the inner sleeve of the bushing. This is what I was talking about when everyone was talking about just removing your lower a-arms to send them in for the clearancing service when you buy the diff drops.

They just don't come right off.

www.car-part.com a set of lower a-arms. Hope that the j-yard can get a few off for you.

Joe

Joe, I remember reading about your a-arm trial, which is why I was so hesitant to even try to take mine off. I think I'll have to get an arm from car-parts, order new bolts and bushings from Merlin, then try and fit a sawzall blade in there to cut it off. If that doesn't work, I can always go next door and use my neighbor's plasma cutter

Rubo, believe me, that option has been under a lot of consideration lately. Don't have the $$$ at the moment, but we'll see. Anyone wanna buy a 5.38 geared, limited slipped, darlington dropped, front axle?

SAS time Mike I'll be working on two at the same time over the next few months.

I might be able to get that weekend off, and if I can fix wheel bearing and tranny issues on the 3.4 rig I might delay the swap on it a little while and make the ride. Slim chance, but who knows.

Fall in Uwharrie is very nice
