Sorry about all the questions, I want to be prepared.
Hey man, no problem at allà
So letÆs see what I can do about supplying a few answers:
Referring to the
[color:"blue"]MAP youÆll see that the nearest store (The Eldorado Outpost) isnÆt too far from Arrowhead Campgroundà still, itÆs far enough away - maybe 10-minutes each direction - that most of us usually bring at least one decent-sized cooler for food and beverages.
* I'll send you a PM shortly about the local Beverage Policies.
As far as what youÆll want to have inside of that coolerà
We usually have a Group Meal on Friday and Saturday nights, where we collect $5 or $10 per person (depending on food costs). --- Participation is always optional û but those who do it once generally sign-up from then on, because honestly, the Uwharrie Iron Chefs can whip-up some mighty impressive grub! --- This time around, I believe weÆre having a Chili Cook-Off on Friday night - and Jambalaya on Saturday night (or maybe itÆs the other way around)à Either way, IÆm pretty sure weÆre looking at $5 per person / per night this time.
[ Sorry gangà No NAFTA Steaks on this trip <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> ]
WeÆve never had a problem with anyone messing with our stuff while we were out on the trails. --- The campground itself is patrolled û both by the on-site Campground Host, Janet, and the Forest Ranger. --- Of course none of us have ever left a hundred-dollar bill sitting on the picnic table to test exactly how honest our fellow campers really are û but none of them have ever swiped any of our junk anyhow. --- Leaving your tools at camp would be completely up to youà but personally, I carry mine with me - itÆs always nice to have them with you, when and if you need them
As for Parts and suchà
The town of Troy, NC is located about 16-miles south of The Eldorado Outpost, via State Road 109. --- In town they have a NAPA and an Advance Auto store; a couple of grocery stores; a typical selection of fast food chains; and a Mom & Pop Italian Restaurant that serves some of the best subs, pizza, calazones, etc. youÆve ever had û and at some amazingly low prices too!
Also: if you need one, thereÆs a 24-hour Wal-Mart about 10-miles east of Troy, in the next town over.
You're free to run without doors if you like - several people do. --- In fact, the last time that we were down there, Mikey (Rodeo Guy) removed just about everything but his hood! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
A lack of experience with rocks shouldnÆt be a problemà WeÆve all been there at some point, and so far, no one has ever had more problems than fun - IÆm sure youÆll take to it right away. --- Assuming that you have a CB, youÆll be able to give a shout-out for assistance if you need to û and if you donÆt, weÆll put you between two rigs that do.
The trails themselves are mostly Red Clay Mud (or Dirt if it hasnÆt rained in a while), with some rocks thrown-in along the way. --- Where needed, there are usually Bypasses - except on the two toughest trails (Daniel and Rocky Mountain Loop) û and even on those two, there are a couple of places where you can Bypass the truly difficult stuff.
From the description youÆve given of the set-up on your Monty, you shouldnÆt have any trouble with anything that Uwharrie has to offer. (Well, other than maybe the two-stage climb up the right side of the Rock Garden on RLM - which is an optional lineà although DougH has climbed the lower half of it in his 2nd gen Monty, more than once, with little more than 33ö M/Ts, a dose of skinny pedal, and some intestinal fortitude û and drove it all of the way back to Nu Joyzee afterward).
In a nutshell: You shouldnÆt have any problems û but if for some reason you do, weÆll make sure you get moving again.
