Jordan - What size tube did they use? 2x4, 2x2? They should hold up fine. Can't wait to see how they turned out.

I'm about to start packing up tools and parts. Maybe I'll find some goodies for the raffle

Costume - Done
Major modifications - Done
Time off work - Done

All that's left is:
final adjustments
shop for chili
pack truck
drive for a day

Anyone got a weather report? How's it been up there?

Side note, anyone interested in a 1st gen Rodeo brush guard delivered to Uwharrie, PM me.

To the garage!

Andre, they used 2x4. Thats what worried me. I know if they were 1x4, or 2 1x2's welded together, or 2 2x2's welded together, they would be much stronger. But that would have taken much more time. And time is money, there. 35 dollars to be exact. They are beautiful. Just Grade A. The welds are all just great, (from what i can tell... ) and they were painted with a spray gun in the shop, so the paint is flawless. I love it when things come out just the way i want.

I got to start packing, too. Got to put my big tires back on, pack all my tools, get my spares out, and organized, drive for half a day....

Oh yeah, wilma, or whatever is left of wilma could possibly hit Uwharrie around the same time we are there. uh...can anyone say muddy?

Everyone, after conferring with Nazrat sometime back, I'm planning to bring "brag placards" for each vehicle, hopefully on some type of card-stock so each person will be able to list their screen name(s) and list any mods they've done to their vehicle(s) and it can be displayed on the dash or affixed to some visible area on the vehicle.

That, my friend, is a damn good idea. Ive wanted something like that for sometime now. I dont know if yall know it, but it can be quite uncomfortable for newbies to the event to come into camp and not know who anyone is.

Yeah, I remember that feelingà IÆm sure that anything we can do to make it easier would be greatly appreciated (by newcomers and old-timers alike).

Quote
On the placards, should be Internet Name, then REAL NAME, then vehicle info, etc.

Agreedà although some of us wonÆt be needing both of those identity lines.

Somewhere around here, in a manila envelope, I have about 100 forms that I printed-up ages ago for just such a purposeà I brought them with me, but for some reason they were never used - nor did we do the group photo that we said we were gonna do that time (or any trip since then). --- Hopefully weÆll have better luck with both this time.

Pre-Uwharrie Preparations:

IÆm still putting the finishing touches on the old costumeà
However, due to a small logistics problem (primarily, that my Rodeo has limited headroom) it looks like IÆll have to do a Trail and Non-Trail version of ità the Non-Trail one being the originalà so technically, mine probably shouldnÆt be reviewed by the judges until we get to the æeveningwearÆ part of the competition, after the trail-run..

As for the Rodeo itselfà
Once Rubo arrives here at Villa de Smiley (on Tuesday?) with a Stank-Load of 1996-97 parts (off of the Franken`Zu !!!), hopefully weÆll have time to address enough of my mechanical woes to get me road/trail-worthyà Otherwise, I might end-up having to leave my bucket-o-bolts here and ride shotgun with him.

With or without mine - we should arrive down there mid-day Thursday (or maybe even Wednesday night).

Cheers!

Oh yeahà One more thing:

Just in case some of you didnÆt know - the tarp for The Uber Shelter bit-the-dust on our last tripà it was so thoroughly ripped-up by the wind that I tossed it in the dumpster before I headed home. û-- Despite the fact that I had intended to get another one before now, I do not have a replacement for it.

If anyone thatÆs planning to arrive on Thursday/early-Friday happens to have a tarp that they could bring (the larger the better) - or maybe a carnival tentà

Yup, I've done none of my planned uwharrie prep. Working 6 days a week sucks. And to add insult to injury, my rodeo just got a sticker for Abandoned/inoperable vehicle while parked outside my house

Anybody else coming from up North? Tad, when you planning on heading down?

Well, letÆs seeà

Today:
Finish-off all of my remaining Honey-Dos + get a much-needed haircut
(Mr. Smiley is looking a wee-bit shaggy).

Monday:
Clean out the Rodeo and get it readyà under the hopeful assumption that itÆs even going to be making the trip.

Tuesday:
Wait by the phone for the inevitable call from Rubo, asking ôWhich turn do I take to get there?ö --- Followed by the mother-of-all vehicle unloads (thereÆs gonna be quite a selection of 1996 Rodeo parts in the back of his Passport).

Wednesday:
The Wrench Session begins (assuming we didn't get an early start on it the night before).

Thursday:
Pack my Rodeo (if itÆs roadworthy) / Pack RuboÆs Passport (if itÆs not). --- Hit the road - hopefully by 11AMà giving us an ETA of about 2 to 2:30PM.

Thursday Afternoon:
HIT THE TRAILS!!!
