Are there 2 days worth of trails there, or can pretty much everything be run in one day?

I had an elaborate answer written, then I realized I could just give you an easier idea. There are right at 16 miles of trails; 30 if you count running them backwards. I can't believe no one's posted a map yet

Given real life conditions- groups are a little slower than individuals, not everyone wants to stay out as long as others, somebody may get good and stuck or break something *knock on wood* whether they're in your group or in your way.
ClickHERE for the 'official' National Forest Service Uwharrie map; the trails being in Orange. There's another more detailed and informative map circulating around freely produced by the Carolina Trailblazers-

HTH!

As for me, I'm gonna be heavily pushing it to make it. My rear diff may need to be re-setup before I put it in amongst a few other things...plus I won't have very much firewood as it hasn't been a priority lately and cutting it now would be futile as it wouldn't have time to dry. I will have some though.

EDIT D'oh! Should've known smiley had a map on the planetisuzoo thread, but oh well- here's one for this thread

It turns out that I've noticed a little error in that-there map
(the one that I slaved day-and-night for more than a week last year to make )...

Has anyone spotted my mistake?

now you've got me looking at this map for hours. the only mistake i see is labeling cove boat ramp as a point of interest. the only time it is a point of interest is when the bath house at arrowhead is closed and you have less than a minute before embarrassment.

There's also the trail difficulty of slab pile. i notice the carolina trailblazers rate it as hardest. but i disagree with their rating of slab pile.

please don't keep us guessing too long.

OK - I don't want to tax anyone's brain too much, so I'll give you a hint...

Pretend you're leaving Arrowhead Campground, on your way to Daniel - and for whatever reason you'd rather stay off pavement as much as possible...

Does that help?

Roger,

The TrailblazerÆs map can be a bit confusing sometimes, especially when it comes to the trail ratings. --- ThatÆs the main reason that I decided to create my own map last year.

On theirs, they used a color-coded A, B, or C rating system to indicate trail difficulty - with a Green æAÆ Box (easiest), a Yellow æBÆ Box (medium), and a Red æCÆ Box (hardest). --- But when drawing the map inself - since they didnÆt want any of the adjoining trails to be marked with the same color - they also used the exact same Green and Red to indicate the path of some of the trails. --- However, the choice of color had absolutely nothing to do with trail difficulty.

As you've already noticed on the TrailblazerÆs map, the line indicating Slab Pile is Red, but if you look more closely and follow your way along that line, youÆll see that the trailÆs difficulty is marked with a Yellow (medium) æBÆ Boxà but itÆs easy to see why a trail marked with a Red line would appear to have a Red æCÆ (hardest) difficulty rating.

So, in an attempt to build a better mouse trap (or at least one thatÆs a bit easier to use)à
I chose to use SIX different color-coded trail ratings. --- This allowed for a more broad appraisal of the trails, with each of them being drawn using a color that best represented its overall difficulty - while at the same time, as luck would have it, this also happened to prevent any two adjoining trails from sharing the same color.

And besides, Dicky Bell (or however you spell it ) is a wee-bit harder than Slab Pile, don't you think?

I was under the impression that you could get to Daniel from wolf's den or falss dam, but I could be wrong...i seem to remember us making a wrong turn on one of the easy trails and ending up on the "hill climb from hell".

Robby - I'm guessing the æhadean hill-climbÆ that you're talking about must have been Dutch John, `cause no matter how hard you try, you simply AM-NOT gonna make one wrong turn from the bunny trails and end up on Daniel... it just ainÆt gonna happen, Bro.
