Legends say no one has ever witnessed the rocks move, but the theory is the desert floor has a high clay content that gets slick when wet; combine this with heavy winds and the rocks slide (not roll) across the desert floor. Interesting stuff!

We camped--three nights at the campground in Panamint Springs, one night in the backcountry near Mengel Pass at the Geologist's Cabin and two nights at the campground in Furnace Creek.

I'm hooked on these 1,500-mile roadtrip/wheeling trips. I'm thinking a 2-week trip to Colorado would be fun this fall.

They're great! Now I can drive tougher trails without worrying about crushing the rockerpanels. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

After much consideration, I ended up welding them directly to the frame.
