Sorry guys. It is very doubtful that I will make it this time. I just found out that I'm filling in for the senior pastor that weekend and will be preaching in the main sanctuary. I'll be pretty busy on the days leading up to Sunday.

Pete - I read this news with mixed emotions û so:
æSorry to hear itÆ <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> -and- æCongratulationsÆ <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

[* Remembering one of Garrison Keiler's old æNews from Lake Wobegon' storiesà *]

DonÆt forget to use those special ecclesiastical eye drops that give you that æextra gleamÆ
û thus rendering the entire congregation ever-the-more inspired and awestruck as they depart the sanctuary;
wondering quietly to themselves û afraid to actually say so out-loudà
ôWOW! û Our regular minister sure never stirred the Spirit in us like that!ö

Wednesday night, I think we're having a little un-official 'Mini-Hillbilly Wrenching Party'...
Doug and I will be over at Jack's place all day Wednesday (probably spilling over into Wed. night) addressing a semi-major project (or two) on my Rodeo.

We might be done early enough to drive over the mountain to Callalantee and hit the trails, but right now I honestly don't know.

Doug has already warned me that we're gonna be getting a very early start...
(In other words: That there will be none of my usual "Smiley <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/sleeping.gif" alt="" /> AM coma" foolishness) - So who knows; we might actually git'r done in-time to go play. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Will there be a place to camp for us there if we get in late.in other words will the site be open or should we just aim to crash on the side of the road.

Callalantee is open 24/7... (I don't ever even remember seeing a gate) - so no problem there.

As for setting up - as noted above, I'm not sure when we will get there (or when Doug plans to haul their camper over) - but you shouldn't run into any trouble, even if we're not there yet... Assuming that you're still planning on arriving Wednesday night, at the worst, the next morning someone from the office might request a camping fee from you.

That said - Doug might be able to talk to the folks at the office and get them to include your early arival as part of our group package - I'm not sure, but I'll ask him the next time that he calls me.

Either way, just in case we aren't there when you arrive - once you enter the campground, go toward the cinderblock building that is (more-or-less) STRAIGHT AHEAD (and basically to the LEFT of everything else)... Head toward the 'gravel road' that runs next to the LEFT SIDE of that building (the bathhouse**), and park in the gravel area to your LEFT, somewhere semi-close to that building. --- You'll know you have the right spot if you see a deep ditch / small pond on your LEFT, right before you get to the building... Park anywhere past the ditch, but before the cluster of shade trees (and/or a small camper with a doggie-door/ramp on the back side - if it's still there).

** The Men's Room Door is on the OTHER side of the building (but from past experience, BYO TP <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> )

[Edit]

I'm really not sure if anyone that's never been to Callalantee should go hit the trails alone (certainly not wothout GPS), because the place is so absurdly large that you could very easily get lost - plus some of the trails are quite deceptive; going along for ages looking like a simple forestry road, and then *BINGO*, they drop off of the ever-loving face of the earth... but if you just 'have to'...

Here's the Latest Map that some of the guys from NC4x4 have put together:
