Just did a little post-CALLA tinkering today...
-- installed a new U-joint
-- greased all the Zercs
-- adjusted the steering box
-- tightened the U-bolts
-- reattached a couple of exhaust hangers (that got missed last week, in TN )

Nothing major, really.

I may have identified the 'THUNK' that Andre and I heard on Saturday night...
I'm not sure, but I think that it's just a noisy (and hopefully inert) side-effect of spring wrap. --- One thing is for certain; it's NOT coming from the front, like Andre and I thought. --- With any luck, I'm right about this one... if not, I'll find out otherwise soon enough

33 Days and counting!

With less than a month to go, hereÆs whatÆs been on my mind latelyà

[color:"yellow"]Shelter:

ôOh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade awayö
û The Rolling Stones

OK, there probably wonÆt be anyone in mortal peril, or at risk of fading away - but with the absence of the illustrious old Uber Shelter (and with just a notably smaller / pieced-together patchwork set-up to serve in-place of its former greatness), if it rains, weÆre probably gonna be rather tightly huddled together, and most likely still getting wet!

Anyway, the good news is that I was just doing a little reconnaissance on the subject, and happened to run across something in the Northern Tool Catalog that would be perfect to serve as the new & improved Uber Shelter (and would undoubtedly last considerably longer than the old one

A Heavy-Duty / Reinforced Silver 30Æ x 50Æ Tarpààà Shipping Weight: 59lbs.
Item Number: 118505-2605à..................................................................... $129.99

Ahh, but now for the bad newsà
The budget here at Villa de Smiley is such that I am completely unable to simply pick-up the phone and order it.

(* So, shamelessly he asksà) Is there anyone attending HALLOÆwharrie this year that hasnÆt already maxed their plastic on repairs and mods for their rig, and is maybe feeling a wee-bit benevolent?

In all seriousness, with the present attendance numbers, we could take-up a collection û maybe $5 per person û and very nearly cover the costàà Hey, itÆs a thought.

[color:"yellow"]Food:

IÆll have to coordinate with Lisa of Team Turtle (since she works about a block away from the only grocery store that I know of in the entire country that still stocks the critically-important main ingredient) û but if all goes well on that front, I basically already have all of the remaining ingredients required to prepare a whopping batch of my æPerfeiþÒo dÆChorizo over Basmati RiceÆ

[color:"yellow"]Reservations:

Has anyone else reserved their campsite yet?

Jerry reserved 34...

When I was checking on the sites earlier, I wondered if maybe that was one of ours
-- thanks for the low-down

I guess that means I should probably put Jerry on the Attendance List, huh?

I have not yet reserved. I may be waiting till my schedule comes out in hopefully a week. Once I know what days off I have I will book from there.

I am on the prowl for some goose this week, I did see 9 deer on the property today as that is always a good sign, I will be in full force the first week of october you try and round up some steaks.
