What about a Zu-winter event in January or February? What are the options? I know that camping is more challenging, but hotels or campers would work for those who do not have my winter mountaineering gear. It would be fun to play in the snow. Wherever we go has to have lots of options. Sometimes steep trails get covered with ice and are just about impossible.

I should have my junk ready by then. Anyplace with at least some really gnarly stuff would make the trip worthwhile for me.

With several inches or more of snow - no joke - itÆs quite an accomplishment to negotiate and surmount dozens of the steeper city streets here in BFEà and local accommodations are quite plentiful.

However, for more serious consideration - There are also countless forestry roads nearby, a rather undulating æplay areaÆ next to the airport, and a few actual trails as well (including several that I still havenÆt explored).

If youÆre reading between the linesà
About the only chance IÆll have of attending a Winter Run would be if it takes place VERY close by.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Wouldn't hurt my feelings to get to play in some snow. The most we ever seem to get is a light dusting and ice
Heck I've been eyeballing the mitsu's nov/dec uhwarrie thread and thinking about crashing the party nice guys all of them

that puts Uwharrie out of the question, Tellico is a likely choice... but if you were worried about the dry weather, the rocky terrain there is no joke with snow cover. I'm not sure what the status of Callahante is (Doug?), being its private, they might be open year around.

I wouldn't mind W.V. as long as it's near Snowshoe... I need to get my yearly ski fix.
