I was thinking about putting together a wheeling trip to someplace local (hollister hills SVRA or similar).

I was thinking about doing something Dec. 16 or 17th. Infact I have that whole week off.

All 4wd makes and models. Lets plan something out.

Man I hated to back out at the last minute, thats not like me at all. If it wasnt for the darn flu, I totally would have been there. How about the weekend of January 27th for a snow run. No football games that weekend.

Looks like a few folks from hangtown are game for Iron Mountain on the 27th. Anybody else?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have been keeping an eye on the weather and its sadly rather dry for now as you may know. If no storms come by 26th then snow will be minimal on Iron mtn. Although, we went up a couple of weekends ago just before the cold snap and it was at about 2 ft around 6k I can do a scouting run this weekend maybe but I will prob have to go up to the 6000 plus elevation.

Another suggestion may be Loon lake area or Wentworth springs which is north of hwy 50. However it is a a few miles more than Iron Mtn. If all else fails perhaps we might consider Praire City OHV?? I will thus attempt the little known Irish/Polish Snow Dance to coax some percipitation in the near future...(This of course will require a bit of a Hoppy beverage for proper execution..)

Stay tuned..or tune out or drop out or drop in or...just wheel!

Need a Spot
tog2,
Did you do any scouting over this past weekend at Iron Mtn? What's the snow condition like? For those of you that went, what's the word on the condition at Iron Mtn?

No, actually I passed on it since there was really only little snow from what I was told by others returning. It was not really worth going to scout it out. I would suspect that in Feb there will be a better chance of more snow (hopefully) and a worthwhile run to be had. With such a dry january..I am wondering if global warming is for real..lol

Actually the last few winters have been late bloomers so to speak. Now if anybody wants to do a real fun run then I would recommend Wentworth springs which would take a good full day to do.

I will let ya all knwo how things are looking as far as snow up Iron Mtn in the future.

Tom
