I could've made every thing in the pics with my current setup (it's just like Callalante back in TN).

You scared me with the tire size & rocker protection.

Next time there's a run i'm game.

Yea you could of made everything possibly but if you want to be able to open your doors ever again rocker protection is mandatory on this trail. I took hundreds of hard hits on my sliders. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> anything less than 33's and at least one hard locker and you will get the stap consistently. My rear locker was engaged about 95% of the time and I used the front locker at least 20 times. Also you want sliders that extend out a bit or you'll smash the sides of the doors as well.

Being my first time on this trail, I was SO thankful for the armor on my vehicle. My sliders, front bumper and rear bumper took more hits than I ever imagined and have the numerous scars to prove it. I now have a significant re-paint job ahead of me, but well worth it. I only wish I'd had the time before the trip to perform the "recommended" welds on my new Marlin Crawler bumper, as this was the result, minor but annoying:

Pictures don't justify the difficulty of trails, do some research on the CON before you make assumptions! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />
The majority of the pictures were taken on easy spots, when you're on difficult spots you tend to forget about the camera and just concentrate on getting over the obstacle. (unless you have someone designated to take pics)

I am thinking of going back in Sept, you are welcome to join us with your "current setup" <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> and show us how you can make it on your own <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Like i stated earlyer "every thing in the pics" i coul've done with my "current setup".
Never been on the trail, so don't know if you can bypass the harder stuff (i'm assuming it's possible with some carefull spoting).

For September i'm game & even if i have bigger tires 'till then, i'll keep mu current 265/70 at's & use them instead.

P.S. Justice, thanks on the tip for the sliders. Will take it in to account when building them.

Even if we switch to the southern Sierras, terrain will be similar. The trick is careful spotting to get through without Rocker damage would mean an extra few days on each trail trying to get through, that is simply not practicle. Rocker sliders really are mandatory in the Sierras. Even with sliders, spotting can be extensive.
