Even if we switch to the southern Sierras, terrain will be similar. The trick is careful spotting to get through without Rocker damage would mean an extra few days on each trail trying to get through, that is simply not practicle. Rocker sliders really are mandatory in the Sierras. Even with sliders, spotting can be extensive.
