Cherokee Cave (a big rock overhang) is near the start - go up ball creek rd, and take the first open left, and go se to Wallace Gap (first place you can look downhill on both sides of the road, and go around to the s face of the hill to the se from the gap along a faint trail. About 30min walk max.

The Waslick Poplar (unfortunately now dead) is the largest poplar east of the Miss. R., and worth the walk down to it, just s of us64 in the So Nant. wilderness. Good camp ground in the wilderness, too, plus a LOT of primitive sites. I don't think camping will be a problem...

I think you have Wayah and Albert mtns. right.

How about meeting up in Otto or Franklin, NC?
