Count me in for the river run, I might get some gold panning in that way Otherwise a ride thru the mountains is good also... anything to get away from the heat

Great Van, come join us! It looks like we should have at least 7 vehicles now...which would make Rabun Bald a bit tight for camping unless some folks want to hike to the top and set up there. I'm leaning toward the mountain drive b/c it may be cooler, but still want to hear from others. We'll finalize the location and meet-up by Sunday.

Is anyone bringing their wives, kids, dogs along? Bring your own food for dinner or try for a "main menue" item? (not that I would be doing any of the cooking)

I don't know about everyone else, but me and my friend are both traveling sans family. As for dinner, I think it's every man for himself I'll have my cheap but effective camp stove, so folks are welcome to use that.

You are welcome to bring them, but I'm not going to behave like a good little boy. However, I rarely get naked and run thru the woods screaming like a banshee, or play LRRP games in the middle of the night, or hold recreations of the Donner party experience anymore since I got out the last time. However, I have found a liking for ritual mutilation and involuntary tatooing during my last term as a guest of the state....

Okay, here's the plan...Head for the Mountains! Meet in Otto, North Carolina at 12PM AKA NOON : Joe's Country Cafe 8507 Georgia Rd (AKA Hwy 441 or 23) Otto, NC 28763 Don't plan on this place for breakfast/lunch until I get confirmation it's open...but that address is quite close to the 'start' of the drive and should have some sort of parking lot to gather in. Plan on fueling up before you hit Joe's Cafe and grab any food or supplies. I don't think we will pass any places before we camp for the night. I will have CB and FRS radios, so if you have one available bring it along. My cell is [edit: send me a PM for my cell number]. Let me know if the time works for everyone. If for some reason all of us are not able to meet at Joe's Cafe you could probably find us at Albert Mountain. We will stop there for a short hike to the fire tower. To get there: -From the Country Cafe parking lot travel approx. 1 mile south and turn right onto Coweeta Lab Rd. -Take the left fork onto Ball Creek Rd. -Continue on for a distance (you got me how far it is) -Right onto Albert Mountain Below is the link for the entire journey. The route ends up running approx. 100 miles. I believe most of this is gravel or dirt roads and with the exception of the Albert Mtn. area and the Wayah Bald road it will all be new to me. We can ride as many or as few miles as the group feels up to. I'm open to whatever you guys want... Huge link!

Sounds like a great trip and possibly a semi-annual or annual event. Y'all have some fun and be safe. And don't forget to take alot of photos... if I can't be there , I might as well live vicariously through y'all.
