It's not a 3-day weekend for me. But I may be able to make a Hollister run, provided my finances aren't strained and my truck can pass smog (still haven't tried <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />)

What about a Nevada run, Carsin city to be exact.
Carson City is like a 10hr drv us SoCal'ers <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

Pismo is "meh" and will also be cold. A Laughlin run may be fun !!! but still... the drive.

We gotta do this stuff while the gas is cheap !!!

I just edited the thread title to add CA. If others - such as Nevada - would also like to setup a run, just start another thread. Thanks.

I did some more research on those trails. Seems they're pretty short (1.5-3 hrs only) so that's a day of wheeling (assuming the weather doesn't work against us).

On second thought we could camp at Pismo and do a day of wheeling on the beach and a day of wheeling in the hills.

What do you think?? Also how about the rest of the regular group? Joanna? Carlos? Brian? Russell will you have a usable 4x4 buy then? Who am I missing?

Alternatively we could do Cow Mountain again?

As for doing Holister? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> It's my last alternative as far as I'm concerned. Just so tired of that place. Kinda like do we go out or stay home. I'd rather go out. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Haven't yet done any of the trails inland of Pismo so yes I'm interested. Did the Surf N Turf last year but they cancelled the inland trail run for some reason and just stayed on the beach. This would be a good area for the 3 day weekend. I checked and there are still 474 spots available at Pismo if that's where we end up for one or more of the nights. Otherwise camping inland is fine with me if it's available.

Sean -- Sorry, Hollister is good for 1 day, I just don't think it's worth a full 3 day holiday weekend, been there sooo many times.

Jason -- Your Nevada location is definitely on the list. If it doesn't work out for this holiday weekend then let's try to work it in at a future date.

In response to Kris' questions on Pismo...

did i here you say PISMO ???

I contacted a local SLO 4x4 club that seems pretty active. The said there are 3 trails in the area that are worthwhile. All 3 are easy to intermediate in difficulty. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

The only problem I saw is they're rated as 1.5-3 hrs trails. That means we could do 2 of them on one day, pismo on another day, and an easy 3rd trail on Monday and be able to drive home at a relaxed leisurely pace. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I'm not sure what camping there is 'in them thar hills' so I'm thinking if there isn't alot of camping we can camp at Pismo & drive up to the trails.
