Nick, you may need to pay an additional fee for the 2nd vehicle.

There are 'no assigned' camping spots so it's critical to let me know if you're coming or not versus just hoping to drop in. This way we can get a large enough area on the beach to accommodate all the rigs.

Jason, bummer when you called bud. Oh well, it is Valentines day and comes with the territory I guess.

I need everyone who's attending's Cell No. as well as the time & date you expect to get there. If you have a CB, we're typically on CH 1 but that might change so having your cell is key.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact me.

Monte, IÆll buy the pass from you, this will be my first outing with the wire.

I've never been to Pismo and my understanding from there web site is that every car needs a pass and your assign a camp spot when you get there. I plan on towing my raider would I need an additional reservation for the second vehicle? Will some one be there holding spots for the group? Since I would get there after 9:00 pm on Friday and wouldnÆt want to end up all by myself away from the group.

Thanks,

Nick
No problem, the reservation includes the following..

Quote
Thank you for using ReserveAmerica's Reservation Systems!

* Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.

* If the park, arrival date, length of stay or equipment type is not correct, please contact ReserveAmerica Customer Account Services at 1-800-695-2269

* A maximum of 2 licensed vehicles autos, travel, boat, and utility trailers may be parked at most campsites
PM me and we'll work out the details.

Thanks,
Jason

Nick, to clarify, no you do not need a second pass. Per Monte's post "Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer". And following up on what Offroader said, there are no "camp spots" because these are just open sand dunes. There are mile markers along the beach so when the time comes you'll be told approximately where we'll be at. What's often easiest is to place a quick cell phone call or text to someone in the group to come find you on the beach and guide you back to camp. Ray's collecting the cell phone info so you won't be left alone, no worries.

Dave,

Wheeling the hills is the primary reason for this trip.

Wheeling the dunes is the secondary reason for this trip since there aren't enough moderate trails in the area that aren't just fire roads. If you know of any please feel free to chime in... maybe even opt to join us and lead a trail run.

Most of the offroading in the hills is for bikes,,,alot of black diamond stuff cause of steepness and alot of erosion.
The Pine Mtn. road isn't very hard except a couple washed out places (I was there 2 years ago, don't know what its like now) You have to turn around before the "stairs". I'd be afaid to take a SWB down them.
The thing neat on Pine Mtn. Trail is the big Rock formations called Castle Rocks. You drive around and thru that area.
From the top of the SLO grade, Santa Margarita exit off 101, thru town turn onto windy 58 ,,go about 20 miles,,turn in where USFS graphic sign is.
Couple nice free campground in this area.
I haven't done Garcia. Its not as far in as Pine Mtn. A small free campground is at the turnoff for Garcia.

HI
I'm new here and to the 4x4 thing.
What days are you guys going and what would need?

Thanks guys

HI,

Sorry about the late reply. Somehow I missed your question.

This will be a camping/wheeling trip so you should have your regular camping gear, plus a working 4x4. Hopefully you'll have good tires. If possible, AT's if not MT tires.

If you have street tires, they may limit how far you can drive into the trail. Since I don't know these trails personally, it's hard for me to say how far with street tires. If all else fails, I'm sure there will be extra seats for you in someones ride so you can capture some of the experience to figure out if and how much wheeling you'd like to do in the future.

Thanks Dave. I heard the stairs are not for ill equipped rigs. As for the steepness, I would imagine we'll be fine so long as we drive smart and alert.

I'm looking forward to Castle Rocks actually. I saw a pic from a Toy forum and it looked like a beautiful view from there.

As for camping, I'm sure in the hills it may not be as easy to locate sites as it is at Pismo hence the reason I elected to use it for our base camp.

So will you be joining us for this trip?
