The faucet just opened up. The weather man is calling for up to 5 inches over the next 3 days.

You guys running Pismo Saturday or Sunday?

If you call huddeling up under tarps, in rigs, running, planning on being around all weekend.

Looks like high surf warnings too. The trails may be closed, but I'm wondering if the forest roads might provide some fun. If this ends up being a eating/drinking/hanging out weekend that will be fine as well.

Leaving by noon so Kris and I will be there around 5. Have packed my heater and every tarp I own, plus lots of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The water crossing on the beach might actually be fun! Usually it's just a trickle but every once and a while the rain swells it to a decent size stream/river.

Hmmm chocolate. I might go and buy a propane heater today just for this trip!

Some of our local workers said this place is open even in the foulest of conditions. Don't know the merit but it may be worth checking into.

This is one of the areas that your local club told me was closed. It's where 2 of the 3 trails are. I'm swamped trying to get out ASAP but if anyone has time, do us all a huge favor and call the ranger (805-925-9538) to doublecheck the conditions for the 2 trails (Pine Mountain & Las Chiches). They may also know the status of the Garcia Ridge Trail. All 3 are in the Los Padres National Forest.

TIA

Last night local TV weather says :

off on on light rain Sat.
Afternoon Sun . 4 in gulley washer.
Mon-Fri : steady rain.

At 1:00 Fri here in Atascadero it's 60 and sunny, a few clouds.

*****Although some of the U.S.F.S. off road areas may be closed, (((I don't think they close the gates because I have never seen a Ranger in these parts, not that that's an excuse to not tread lightly)))--- there are still alot of scenery and exploring on Bad county roads and Forest roads that approach the off road roads. Scenery esp. for Folks that haven't explored here before. It may not be $ wheel in the purist , byut better than sitting in a tent all weekend.
Example - alot of dirt and gravel roads in the U.S.F.S. like in the area of Castle Crags. You can drive up to some mighty nice scenery with out having to break the rules.
There's a County road from Lopez Lake that goes up the South face of the Santa Lucia aand crossesa and comes down Hi Mtn Road to the Pozo Saloon. At the top is the start of Garcia Ridge which my be gated. The road up the South face is real bumpy , enought to where I use low range to keep my teeth in... 2 wd with a granny can do it. There are multible small creek crossings. Its rocky and bumpy going thru the small stream ,,,so erosion damage will not occurr.
I won't be on line after 15 more min.
Call Ray and he can call me if further information is needed.

Hey guys, great to meet all of you. I have to say, I'm very impressed with the Monteros! I never knew how well built they were. Wish I would have had more time to hang out.

Here are a few pictures I took while I was there.
