Okay, I have been looking at the size of threads being developed and am considering reordering into some regional forums.

The AZ Crawler Crew has their own forum section. The traffic indicates that there is potential to split SoCal Crew into a separate region based forum.

Your feed back would be appreciated to determine if this type of split is desired.

The effort is to give you more flexibility is splitting your threads into subjects that are easier to follow.

why not just a Cal Forum?

I like to go down south and check out Different trails.

would be nice if it was all in one forum.

I am considering some minor reorganization within the forums.

SoCal or Cal - I am not opposed to either.

Just checking desire to have a separate regional type structure.

There's a 4x4Wire member map from a couple years ago that hasn't been publicized in a while. It's at this link: www.frappr.com/4x4wire
For everyone reading this, go ahead and add a dot where you are.

I think some organization into large regions of the U.S. would be good. I'm not sure what these regions should be though. Or maybe we don't mess with that yet and we just split CA into a separate forum. I just quickly reviewed the last year's worth of thread subjects within this forum.

Here's the counts related to threads per state (or wherever the event mostly took place, as best as I can tell).
General/not area-specific: 3
Eastern Canada: 1
PA: 2
VA: 3
NC: 2
TN: 1
MI: 1
IN: 6
IL/MO: 1
AR: 1
Louisiana: 1
Iowa: 1
SD: 1
TX: 1
AZ: 4, but a new discussion forum was already created for AZ
WA: 2
So. CA: 19
No. CA & western NV: 28
Eastern NV: 1

There were a couple CA events that were midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles so there really isn't a clear-cut split. I grouped the Reno events with northern CA.

About 60% of the posts in this forum were for events in CA & NV. So at a minimum, I agree it would be good to have that as a region.

I think splitting up regions of the U.S. into at least a few areas would be good to boost friendships within each of those areas. I just wouldn't want to split it up into too small of regions.

Thanks, Jeff. The research is appreciated.

I have looked at the frappr data but find it inclusive.

I am more inclined to go with the hard numbers you show about regional.

There is a visible call for at least a California forum. That prompted by question to determine if there is a user desire for a regional forum.

I concur that size matters and I would rather have a large region to begin and split it later.

There are considerations for more changes in addition to the "regional" forum shift.

As I have a "landuse" background, my bias for the regional concept addresses trails that people enjoy and provides them with information about what is going to impact their recreation opportunity.

Overall, I am trying to position 4x4Wire to be a contributor/collaborator with groups fighting to keep trails open.

Part of that will come with a regional "ownership" of fun experiences on that trail and knowing that as they exchange their experiences they have an opportunity to support advertisers displayed.

From that, a portion of advertising revenue is fed back to organization such as BlueRibbon Coalition to support their lobbying and legal efforts to keep trails open.

And, I am open to extending a portion of advertising revenue being donated to "regional" issues.

Overall, the message to carry forward is that 4x4Wire is committed to promoting, protecting, and providing for recreation opportunity.

We do that through a portion of advertising income that we can donate to areas our viewers consider important to their recreation opportunity.

John

If you are going to separate Ca into a regional forum than having Ca as one forum would makes better sense.

Even though politics plays a major role between the boys up north and the boys down south, we do like to play together. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
