Body Damage is Cool
My truck has developed a coolant leak, not exactly sure where yet - but front PS above power steering bracket. So the decision is to do a full timing belt/valve seal service since it's been about 60K miles/2006.

I thought I might look at replacing the original valve lash adjusters with the new design (larger hole) that is said to not tappy-tappy.

I've done a search in forums and in tech section but I cannot find the part number/source for the new adjusters, OEM or aftermarket.

There are several options on RockAuto, EngineTech, DNJ, Sealed Power, but none say if these are the ones with the larger hole.

Help anyone?

I'm in contact with EngineTech who are a source for Montero lash adjusters. They're checkin to see if they can confirm the ones they supply are the larger bore or not.

In the meantime they sent me a picture of their adjuster with the bore diameter noted. If anyone has an old OEM adjuster laying around maybe you can measure the bore diameter so I can compare it.

If memory serves, the 3mm hole is the upgraded style.

Sorry, threw mine away not that long ago. Boooo... 3mm sounds bigger than what was in mine, so I bet Ryan is right, and they're upgraded...

Don't forget to bleed the new ones before install! (Like you'd ever do that after going to the trouble of unearthing them, right? :D)

Do you have any experience changing VLA's? The bicycle tube trick works great to keep everything in place as you go...

The last TB I did I had the cams off to install valve seals. It seems I did not have much trouble re-installing adjusters, but I have read about using rubber glove finger tips to hold everything in place and will try this time.

Yes Ryany, I've seen ads for the Mitsu 3000 lifters, but none for Montero, other than parts on RockAuto. But the link does say 3mm is large bore.

Thanks
