Need a Spot
Hey everyone I just bought a Ford F-250 super duty extended cab. It's not your typical rig, but it's interesting. I'm wanting to continue improving it from what it is now. It already had a 6" lift in the front and 5" blocks in the back. I'm new to everything suspension related. I took it out for the first time this past weekend and learned I'm very limited in suspension travel. I wanting any suggestions, information, and help I can get. From what I'm seeing I'm thinking about longer break lines in the front, blistering 5165 series shock pn 28-187731 but they might be a bit overkill, same shocks in the rear, but I'm lost when it comes to the rear leaf springs. I've been suggested to use 63" Chevy leaf springs, but I've also thought about buying 5" lift leaf springs and doing away with the blocks that are in the back now. Once again I'm completely new to suspension work and any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Some questions for you:
1. What year F250?
2. What are your plans for said truck?
3. What terrains do you intend to traverse?
4. Do you haul or tow?
5. What brand lift was installed?

Welcome to 4x4Wire. Ditto to what Russel noted. The more information provided, the more you will receive answers that apply.

Bilstien and Fox are both quality shocks for your application.

I am not a fan of blocks for suspension lifts. I have had success with coil and strut spacers.

Springs -- you are right to ask questions. There are a lot of trial and error setups that lead to problems. There are two spring companies I encourage you to check.

Dever Spring and National Spring. A Google search will turn up their web sites.

Both companies make custom springs for desert race applications.

For complete kits, RCD, Rancho, and Rough Country make quality products.

Year of truck is important as factory design will limit some choices.

You note you have about a 6" lift. Personally, I believe that is excessive and limits performance. You need about 2.5 inch lift to accommodate larger tires. Going more than 4" of lift introduces stability issues. And, when you add larger tires, you get into the point of needing to re-gear.
