I had the same issue, and had a mechanic friend come by and we did the starter trick. I wasn't comfortable enough to do it myself either. But nothing else I tried worked, and this worked first try. A quick crank with the breaker bar braced against the ground (make sure it's on the right way and cranks the breaker bar down against the ground and not up....). Nothing flew off, bolt just loosened.

Of course, then I broke both the harmonic balancer and the crankshaft gear trying to get those off and had to buy new ones. They were stuck on tighter than the bolt. It looked like someone had hammered them on and mushroomed the crankshaft end a bit.

I'd see if I could find someone close who is comfortable enough to help. Sorry if that's not helpful...
