Not positive but I believe the dark tones are a coating at time of casting. As long as you don't sand into the darker material, it should be ok. the color should withstand a stripper agent. I would recommend a spot check first to see if the stripper agent does also take of the dark tone color.

I haven't messed with paint strippers for many years. OSHA and EPA regulations have changes mixtures over the years. I do have confidence in Rust-Oleum products.

You might check with a local body shop to see what they use.
