I just sold my 2000 4Runner, which I owned since it was new - 17 years ago. Bittersweet day for me. My 4Runner's new home is in Chicago so it's unlikely I'll see it again.

I'm not sure. I'm not in a rush to put a ton of modifications on any other vehicle. We have a 2007 Taco that we have used for mild off-roading. I experienced so much and learned so much with my 4Runner that I can say that it changed me at least as much as I changed it.

I didn't expect to experience true feelings of grief the day after I sold the 4Runner just because I poured so much effort into that thing over 17 years. But it wasn't long and I felt fine again. I mean, it's just a bunch of metal and plastic, etc.

Cathy and I have become obsessed with New Zealand and we're considering moving there for a few years (for many reasons, none of them political). Selling the 4Runner was part of realizing that we should start purging excess stuff whether or not we actually follow through and go to NZ.
