I didn't want to resurrect this old thread:
http://4x4wire.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/1066010/Searchpage/6/Main/134766/Words/%2Balternator/Search/true/how-to-90a-gvr4-dsm-alternator-on-gen-i-2-6.html#Post1066010
...just to take it off topic.
In that thread, someone mentioned that the 75a/90a alternators from the late '80s Dodge Caravan with the 2.6L would fit the Starion, and there was a hint they would also fit the Montero ÔÇö but it was just a hint.
My question (and would love to hear from anyone who's actually done it): Is the Caravan alternator truly (except for the pigtail) a bolt-in, no physical mods necessary upgrade for the 2.6L Montero? If mods are needed, what are they? Anything else I should know before I order a cheap one from Rockauto?

Rather than mess with a still low-amp alternator, look up the early 90's Diamante or Galant, some had 103, 109, 120 amp alternators.
