Those are the "all the world except the US" rear lights. Since the vehicles we got have combined stop/turn signals, they require some re-wiring in order to fit those lights. I'm considering going through the trouble of doing it, because a) they look cool and b) they add a layer of safety by separating the brake and turn signals.

To the best of my knowledge, they are completely legal.
