I have a 97 montero that shredded its boots when the tire came off the rim. Its winter so normally i would just take the car in to a shop, but everyone is quoting me for a new axel at $500+ installed, that the labor doesn't make sense to just replace the boot.

Ive looked online but i cant find anything about replacing the axel, but im assuming it can be too complicated, as im sure it can be replaced on the trail?

Has anyone replaced the boot or axel in there montero? Is there a write up on here that im just not finding? Do i really have to get another alignment after replacing the boot?
