My '95 Montero, 3.0L automatic transmission broke its timing belt. My mechanic estimates a $3,000+ rebuild, which is more than the vehicle is worth. I'd put in a lower mileage used engine but can only find engines for the '95 Montero Sport 3.0L automatic, nothing for the LS.

Question: Is the same year, same 3.0L, same 8th digit VIN (H), from a Sport compatible with my LS model?
