Good afternoon, everyone. It's been a while. Hope there are still some Gen I guys around who might have experienced what I've got going on.

I still have my 87 Montero with Starion turbo power. For years, all the gauges have been dead right, but now I'm having trouble with the temp gauge. It's not the sender. I have replaced it and no change; secondly, the gauge shows three-fourths of the way up the scale as soon as the key is switched on. That's with a dead, cold engine.

My thoughts are the gauge has finally given it up, but I don't recall ever hearing of this before...and I've been around these trucks for quite a while.

I've been thinking about installing a stand-alone temp gauge and being done with it, but I sure like my dash in its tidy, stock fashion.

Any insights, speculation, ridicule or anything else is welcome.

Thanks.
