Started tearing into it this weekend but didn't get as far as i had planned. I'm finding the Montero to be a little challenging to work on but not too bad. I tore the engine down to the valve covers to replace those gaskets. Found more sludge and buildup than i was hoping for but nothing alarming. Took a peak at the T belt and microscopic cracks are visible, definitely needs to be changed ASAP. The previous owner wasn't big on maintenance it seems. Performed a compression test while I had access to the plugs.

Oh well, that's good enough for me. Also when I reconnected the battery to crank over the motor for the test my alarm started blaring, at 9 o clock at night haha! But looked it up and all you need to do is hold the alarm LED down while turning the key in the ignition. Sorry neighbors!
Changed out the spark plugs of course and they were looking a bit rough. Tonight I'm ultrasonic cleaning the injectors and rebuliding them. Then shes going back together.
