I'm fairly new to this 4x4 Isuzu forum. I just bought a '99 Rodeo about 2 mos. ago & I absolutely LOVE it! I will be be needing a new set of tires in the near future & wanted to know if 2.65/75/15's will fit stock or will I need to lift it? I'm still not sure if I want to lift it just yet. It's a daily driver & my only transportation (90% street 10% off road). Also, having said that can any one recommend a good set of shocks for $200 or less?

I'm pretty sure that 2.65/75/15s will fit, but are you sure that you want something that narrow and that small. As for 265/75/15s that about a 30-31 inch tire so it should fit. I've had some good experience with procomp shocks. The ES3000s are only about $32 a piece so not expensive.

Hey there 99RodeoDude, welcome to the board.
Are sure about that rim size? Should it be 16 instead of 15? The reason I ask is that generally metric tires for 15 inch rims are for passenger cars, if you do find some in a suitable size make damn sure that is says LT265/75/15. If the tires don't say LT then they will not be the proper load range for your Rodeo. If you do have 15 inch rims you should be looking for standard tire sizes, such as 31/10.5 R15. If they are 16 inch rims then go ahead and look for LT265/75/16 or what ever size you would like.

As far as the tire having to be an LT rated tire in reference to load range, just remember that stock tires are 'P' 245/70/16. LT's will provide a heavier load range and stiffer sidewalls. Go into the search feature and look for topics about tire fit, you should find some good comments. My opinion only...don't get hung up on LT only rated tires. From what you said in your post, your off roading is limited. I have a 99 Rodeo and upgraded my shocks and am running a stock size all-terrain tire. I still go lots of places and have tons of fun. Good luck and have fun with your new Isuzu

99RodeoDude, Welcome! Make sure to use the search, I am sure there is a lot of info on 2nd gen Rodeos and tires size. About the lift - you have a lot of options available any where from a 1" lift to about a 3.5" lift. I have a 2" suspension lift and a 1" body lift with 31" tires on my daily driven 98 Rodeo. My wife actually likes it better now than stock. As stated before check your rim size, then decide on tires. As for the comment about shocks, I would stay away from Procomp ES3000, ES9000, and Rancho RS5000 for the rear, they are way to stiff and you will not be happy with the highway ride, however, these do work well for the front. If you pick your parts correctly for a mild lift it can actually give you a better ride because the stock shocks in front are a little to soft, and the springs in the rear are a little soft. [ October 01, 2002, 11:43 AM: Message edited by: CPetrak ]

I do not have these, but they are supposed to be softer than the ES3000 and RS5000, and are not expensive. Matt at Independent 4x has them.

The current tire size on there now is 2.35/75/15. I was thinking about a 30" or 31" tire and a 2" lift. Thanks for all the good advice!

There isn't a decimal in "235" Like stated above, "2.35" would be close to a cycle tire. To help you figure out the 29", 30", 31".. there is a good site that breaks it down. Tire Tech 101 This should help you out alot, it did for me. If its so much of a daily driver why do you want such wide tires? Your mpg will drop, as with the acceleretion.. But its your truck, Im just playing devils advocate. I've got wider tires myself! About shocks, I love the RS9000's made by Rancho. They are adjustable so you can get the nice soft ride on-road, and simply dial them up to a firmer setting for off-road. I got my set for a little over $200 shipped. IMO its worth the extra $$. And lastly, I just want to let you know about the search feature on this board. Its amazing. This topic has been talked about before, you will find a good amount of info on tires especially. After doing a search in the Isuzu 4x4 forum I have decided on 30/9.5/15. With special thanks to Ashby and CPetrak. Well I've been checkin' out tires on the 'net and a friend of mine has recommended Dunlop' Radial Rover RV's. I keep going back to them as a choice. He has them on a P/U and likes them. Quiet & good street handling charicteristics. Decent off-roadabilty. Any thoughts pros, cons?
Thanks every body. Dave
